+1 … we are looking at a serious food shortage in the next 10-20 years… Might as well wipe out half the planet now to save us looking at them dying on the news over a prolonged period… and of course from listening to Bono and Bob mouthing on for another 20 odd years

GM food will solve the food problem and increase cancer and sickness 10 fold. Read any non corporate backed literature on it and come back to me then.

Is everyone (bar myself) on this site schizophrenic?

Is WHO backed by corporate money?

Where did I say that? I said GM food could stop food shortages but would lead to early deaths and sickness- not to mind fucking up the natural environment by destroying naturally grown foods - bringing us back to where we would be after the food shortages- @Massey has the only solution here, nuclear war.

What does WHO say about contamination of naturally grown foods by GM grown? Have you seen the affect of GM foods on the US? - And where does GM food lead but to control of food production by corporations and millions of farmers around the world thrown to the wolves… Typical right wing nut job attitude here - make money for the rich and fuck the planet and its inhabitants.

The GM thing is a bit more complex than that. European farmers lean on roundup (glyphosate) in order to be profitable but it is contaminating groundwater. It will be banned in the not too distant future and most farms will collapse when that happens. GM could make glyphosate redundant

Now you are making a different argument

Anyway WHO say

#Different GM organisms include different genes inserted in different ways. This means that individual GM foods and their safety should be assessed on a case-by-case basis and that it is not possible to make general statements on the safety of all GM foods.

#GM foods currently available on the international market have passed safety assessments and are not likely to present risks for human health. In addition, no effects on human health have been shown as a result of the consumption of such foods by the general population in the countries where they have been approved. Continuous application of safety assessments based on the Codex Alimentarius principles and, where appropriate, adequate post market monitoring, should form the basis for ensuring the safety of GM foods.

Safe me bollocks -

Do you know what an eco-system is and how it works?

They are producing ‘pest’ resistant plants in the US with the offshoot that other plants/weeds are being made resistant to herbicides - they basically have to use agent orange to kill them off - That’s the route you’d have our food heading down? Not to mention the destruction of the animals and insects that live in these enviroments

You don’t fuck with your food supply and thrown toxins at it to increase profit. How about you invest in naturally grown food and stop cities sprawling out onto what’s left of the fertile land on the planet and build up.

You are arguing with WHO here. I am just a proxy.

Arguable we should not eat meat given the energy expended to rear it

You talk about food shortages and on other hand the western world faces an obesity crisis.

The world is fucked but then again it always has been. Imagine lads posting on here from the western front in 1915
