Dublin teams have a grand record of going to Carlow and coming away beaten. Iād rank a potential Carlow-Dublin preliminary quarter-final as a 50-50 game.
The Carlow club championship should be box office again this year.
Laois would have a good few intermediate clubs Iād imagine though? Carlow have 10 hurling clubs in total by my count. 4 of those are primarily football clubs too.
Hurling is a wonderful game when teams of the same level compete. Joe mac is a smashing competition which is only payed lip service by the gaa/rte for most of the competition. Shame on them.
I was just thinking the exact same thing. Tom Mullally is a serious operator and exactly the sort of manager Waterford should have been after last year. Too low profile for the Waterford County Board goons.
They should move the Joe Mc/Ring finals back to semi-final day. Thatās what established these competitions in the first place. Sabotaged shamelessly by Nicky Brennan.
The big thing with these second tier counties is there is whole swathes of the county with no hurling, Carlow town, Portlaoise, Athlone and Tullamore are huge towns who canāt muster together a decent 15 to compete in their respective counties.
