Politics makes strange bedfellows
Hilarious.
Wait til they ban the wimmin, it’ll be glorious
and flying
It’s mad how pro-Muslim some of the lgbtq etc etc crew are. The feeling most definitely isn’t mutual
Sone people just have a live and let live attitude I suppose, why would anybody be anti-Muslim? Sure they’re people like me and you
I don’t have any problem with them but my experience of dealing with them, particularly with regards to how they treat and regard women and gay people have been quite negative I must say.
Hardly a problem that’s unique to Muslims. It’s generally a function of conservative religion and conservative societal norms.
When Tony Cascarino was nodding in that header against England at Lansdowne Road and Mary Robinson was moving into Áras an Uachtarán, marital rape in this country was still legal. When Niall Quinn was nodding in that back header against Denmark at Lansdowne Road and U2 were packing out America with Zoo TV and the Spring Tide was already ebbing, homosexuality was still a criminal offence in this country.
That doesn’t seem too long ago and it didn’t feel like the dark ages at the time, but the conservative underbelly of the country was still very strong.
Where majority Muslim countries have tended to differ in their paths in terms of political struggles to what has happened in the west is that conservative religion was deliberately mobilised as a popular force against secular despots. In Europe and the West, popular uprisings have tended to be secular against religious or quasi-religious forces. In Europe and the West we’re now seeing a quasi-religious backlash against secular liberal society by elements of white society which in essence isn’t that different to what we’ve seen in several areas of the Middle East, Asia and North African countries, in that it’s driven by conservative religion, deeply conservative social ideas, a wholesale rejection of liberal ideas and an imagined and hopelessly naive and deluded idea of ethnic purity.
There’s a wonderful deliberate naivety the liberal left have when it comes to Muslims. The Muslim religion is very very clear on where its stands on issues - it’s not a Church of England a la carte operation. Liberals are then shocked when, in power, the Muslims do what they have never pretended they wouldn’t do.
Islam has a certain set of moral principles and if you believe then they are not negotiable. They are entitled to that, of course, but it’s fascinating to see liberals go “you didn’t really mean that though” when they put those morals into practice.
The Catholic Church is very clear where it stands on these issues too.
Generally you’ll find that most people on what you call the liberal left are not big fans of organised religion in general because they recognise that fundamentalist religious dogma tends to cause serious problems, no matter where it’s coming from, but you’ll also find they don’t think it’s right that people are vilified merely for being born into a religion.
This seems a very fair and logical position to hold. But obviously you think it isn’t.
I think the rainbow zebra crossings are quite cool, brightens up the road
Gay people don’t want anything to do with these transgender/whatever freaks
20k to brighten up the road a bit?
I think im as confused as this one.
Are they a female-male-non binary or just non binary or wut? If they consider themselves male, would they still be eligible to play womens? If they consider themselves neither female nor male, then can they choose which sport gender to play in?
Join the club on the confusion. However the more I check in here, the more I’m beginning to see that men can actually have periods.
Cos you only check in once a month?
Wouldn’t that mean there’s just one?
Not if you were iritable and irrational at that time… you’d think it was everyone else…
