The Let Kev at your Back thread

A kerryman trying to catch a sliothar?..surely this should be in the ā€œThings That Are Wrongā€ thread?

Get it realigned as soon as possible as it will definitely case trouble in later life. Iā€™ve broken six fingers (some more than once) playing hurling and didnā€™t always get them taken care of properly. Iā€™m paying the consequences nowadays.

An untreated fracture will become arthritic and cause a lot of pain as you get older. Your ability to grip will be severely impaired also.

Get it looked after straight away boss.

then get your little pinky fixed dude.

Yes to your first question and no to your second question

I hear them GAA insurers look for every angle to not pay up. True or false? The insurers were informed shortly after it happened in a preliminary report. I am half afraid they will not pay up on whatever it will cost to re break and re - align and they will come back and say I should have sorted it at the time at a fraction of the cost. I only got it x rayed 6 months after it happened!

Thanks for the advice Elvis. U must have been in the thick of the action under the puck out to be breaking all them fingers!??

I should have done summit at the time with the damn thing but there wasnt enough pain to make it an issue to attend to immediately and the games were coming thick and fast

False, they arent insurers so to speak, its an injury fund which is paid into by each club. Premiums dont rise and fall with the rate of injury.
With our club, so long as they were notified within the 60 day period, they have always paid out.

yep u r correct re them not being insurers. Its a fund though it gets referred to as the GAA insurance scheme by many. How it works I am not so sure. Hopefully they will pay out then. They were notified well within the 60 day period.

It is just gone 2 and a half years since i fucked my knee in a championship match - i spent 4 months out of work and about 5K in medical expenses (The club paid that) not a penny arrived from the ā€œinsuranceā€ to cover either.

is that not illegalā€¦in a public place like? :strokechin:

Shape up or move along.

was the injury mentioned in the refereeā€™s report? what was the excuse for the " insurance" money not arriving?

FFS, if you stub your toe now itā€™s ā€œgimme moneyā€ straightaway.

In our fatherā€™s time no man would call himself a real hurler or footballer unless most of his teeth were missing, arthritis in the fingers from age 35 was mandatory, they couldnā€™t genuflect properly because their knees made a loud cracking noise and varicose veins were a badge of honour.

But Jaysus, they were happy out.

I was told it was in the refā€™s report, didnā€™t see it. No reason as yet anyway, i left the country and havenā€™t bothered chasing it, i no longer need the cash but at the time i did and was told it may take several years to be paid out.

Iā€™ve spent the last 3 hrs puking and pissing through my holeā€¦ Some cunt has poisoned me. I fear Itā€™s not over yet but I have nothing left to give.

Winter vomiting bug surely? Tis going around. Our friend foncie had it last weekend by the sounds of it
