The Mac and Treatystones Beer Thread

Sipping on a saltaire light ale now, nice taste but very flat, not sure I like it.

I was drinking Blue Moon over the christmas, gorgeous stuff, think its my new favourite beer. Dunnes had 4-packs of it and hopefully will be getting it back in.

Blue Moon is everywhere now. I have seen it on draft in a good few pubs around Dublin.

It is nice and refreshing alright but quite sweet.

20 bottles in Lidl for €30 over the crimbo, money well spent & not a hangover in sight. 500ml & 5.6%. I am hooked.

When I move into a place with a bit more space I am going to start brewing my own beer. In 5 years I am confident I will be supplying tescos and dunnes while considering multi million euro bids from breweries to brew it.

It’s a bit of a joke tho that we don’t have micro brewery pubs in this country. I remember in Canada going to a bar which had at least 4 or 5 of its own beers, a selection of ciders and stout as well as other craft beers and selling them at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, many in this country don’t give a fuck what they drink as long as they get off their tits and these shite hawk trendy bars can continue serve piss and get away with it.

If I had a few quid, I think that would be the dream anyway, brew and sell my own, along with gourmet pizzas, you’d need the owl pizzas for the munch.

Go for it CM.

Watch this space Harry… I’m off to Belgium on a fact finding mission soon. Note pad at the ready.

Put me down for a case of the home brew when you get up & going pal. :pint:

I met a young English dude when abroad one time, had been brewing his own beers since college and got someone to back him to start his own brewery. It was going well and he was in his third year and had expanded his range of brews. He said the hardest part was getting the brews consistent. It’s easy brew a nice beer but customers expect every bottle should be the same.

I’ll place you and Harry on quality control.

I’ve just become a professional beer taster? Nice.

I am ready to buy shares in this new venture CM. :strokechin:

Big thing in the midlands part of England where i am living where a lot of pubs, decent pubs if you can find them and i know where they are, have many locally brewed guest beers on draught.

There mightnt be micro brewery pubs down in hicksville but up here in Dublin the porterhouse brew all their own beers.

Most pubs in Dublin are now starting to carry beers from various micro breweries. Against the Grain serves nothing but micro brewery beers, although not necessarily their own.

Lookup Little Creatures brewery in Fremantle, that’s what you should be aiming for at a minimum. Homebrewed beers and Gourmet Pizza.

Sipping away on Wychcraft Blonde. Not bad as blondes go, nice fruity aroma , with a typical cream like light texture- strong hoppy after taste that leaves a little bitter aftermath.

3/5

Sipping on a Leffe blond here. washing down a Chicken balti.

Having a few staropramen watching j Ross. Very nice indeed with a fine bite.

Had a bottle of Brewer’s Dark last night. A dark ale, low alcohol level (2.8%), but doesn’t taste any the worse for it. Lovely beer, flavours of caramel and liquorice.

Got a few bottles of O’Hara’s “leann folláin” in for the match. “Full-bodied extra Irish stout”. 6.0%. Feeling it fair enough already. Nice stuff, very tasty.

Hope the Celtic result doesn’t sully your enjoyment of the beer pal. On a positive note, you can celebrate an excellent Huddersfield win in the 4th round of the FA Cup tonight @ Leicester.

Aye, switched over, though I had it recording. A superb solo goal by Ireland U-21 Sean Scannell. Wigan at home now on the weekend. Very winnable.
