Whatā€™s the score @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy ?

Plenty of showers forecasted for Sydney over next few days. If England could continue to bat diligently as Stokes and Bairstow did after yet another top order collapse, a draw is likely.

I like Bairstow a lot. Heā€™s had a very tough time, but just kept his head down and kept going.

Yorkshire grit. I like Bairstow too. Form hasnā€™t been great for a while but with such a poor batting line up and lack of options, Iā€™d have had him in the side every day of the week from the first test. He offers a lot more at test level that Buttler Fingers.

Agreed. And at least heā€™ll fight. Test started on the anniversary of his fatherā€™s suicide I think.

Thatā€™s right. It gets a mention during the January test alright. Iā€™d say a Jonny was only 7 or 8 maybe when the father took his life.

England all out for 294.

Labuschagne gone almost immediately after lunch. Great start for the poms.

Australia 265/6 dec. Notional target of 388 for England. Lot of batting for England to do to save the test.

Good start for England reducing them to 86/4, then a 183 run 5th wicket stand.

England openers negotiate 11 overs and are 30/0 at stumps on Day 4.

That was the story the last time in aus iirc, England tended to get the openers quickly, and then the middle order and tail would score another 400

England 270/9.

Last over. Jimmy Anderson facing 6 deliveries from Sandpaper to save the test.

You couldnā€™t make it up.

Match drawn

Australia 416/8d & 265/6d England 294 & 270/9

England survive 102 overs to save the test.

A victory for the Poms.

No. The match finished in a draw.

Morally youā€™d have to say this is a series victory for England.

Itā€™s a bit like the Irish rugby team back in the 1990s when avoiding being whitewashed was seen as a good year.
