The official Roman Catholic thread

Ah the latin hymns are the best. Iā€™ve little faith but Iā€™d die happy knowing that Panis Angelicus would be played at my e-funeral:

(Not a smart answer) - Wouldnā€™t the thought be that this God bloke created them as well? I donā€™t think the presence of extra terrestrial life is necessarily relevant to peopleā€™s belief in a God, they would carry on with their belief.
If there is extra terrestrial life, Iā€™d imagine theyā€™d take one look at humans and stay the fuck away from us, given the utter bollocks weā€™re making of ourselves and the planet. Either that, or inform us 10 minutes before it happened, that they were going to obliterate the earth to make way for a new galactic motorway. Douglas Adamā€™s thoughts always seemed the most plausible to me regarding extra terrestrial life.
Donā€™t panic @smark.

How does any religion tally with it? And what if the extraterrestrials cross-check their religion(s) with ours?

Do you mean that they have the same religious beliefs as humans? So they would be fighting amongst themselves all the time as well?

We will accept aliens into our faith if thatā€™s what they wish kid, so long as they are a reasonable and peaceful bunch of lads weā€™ll take them.
If itā€™s between us and those Muslim pricks I think we will get the most of them anyway.

What if they had a different god and were able to prove it, or were sent here by her to save us?

@smark does.

Well none of the mainstream religions do mention aliens/extraterrestrial life/intelligent life outside of earth. Take Catholicism, if intelligent beings outside of earth were revealed, something that has never been uttered in catholic faith or the bible, would it not blow everything Catholicism has claimed out of the water? How would you believe anything Catholicism/Jesus said anymore given they didnā€™t once mention this pretty big thing? Heaven and Earth. Thatā€™s what they say right? Not heaven and all the billions of other stars, universes and galaxies.

All I am saying is if these intelligent beings in spacecraft not from this planet are revealed then it will make Catholicism look pretty hokey if you ask me.

The child abuse thing has already done that mate.

Youā€™ve held on to that fine Irish characteristic of self loathing anyway, Fitzy. We humans have achieved quite a bit in the last few thousand years. Iā€™m also confident that weā€™ll still be here in another few thousand years, perhaps living in greater harmony with the planet. Cheer up.

No surprise to see you are one of these insecure cunts.

I hope to fuck we do Ambrose. Weā€™re just not doing a very good job of it at the moment are we?

I often pray for your soul Kev.

Of course. But what if some Jewish looking guy with a beard is driving the spaceship?

Then itā€™s free wine for everyone!
