That man makes far too much sense.

Hes wrong about one thing. The politicians involved won’t hang their heads in shame- they’re blithely indifferent to facts and reason. This is a trendy ideology that fills the gaps in secular society that have been left by religion. There’s zero chance of ryan or Coveney changing direction should any argument or evidence present itself. Sure as Coveney himself says, this will help out people in the developing world

Some yoke to mow Trevelyan’s corn

Zero carbon would result in all the trees and plants dying.

Don’t they need that good stuff to grow?

Mental gymnastics, again.

It’s amazing the know how some of the next generation have.
In a way current external pressures have already opened eyes into practices that benefit both the environment & pocket.

Teagasc imo are a massive problem.

  • They have encouraged massive expansion, overstocking of land required huge amounts of Fertiliser use to keep grass in front of herds.
  • They have signalled huge investment from farmers in Parlour upgrades & Slurry storage expansion. Debt that needs to be repaid regardless of what Eamon Ryan wants or demands.
  • They cosy up to a Processing sector which demand cattle be finished on Rations to meet grades thus driving imports of foreign feedstuffs all while we have an abundance of natural grass.

The IFA need to take their heads out of their holes fast and piece together ideals which their members can unilaterally get behind.

Dairy will be protected as much as possible with these measures. As for beef… reading between the lines its pretty much saying go organic or go home.

I’m all for organic if they’ll pay a premium price but the cunts will find some way to pinch at slaughter levels.

We need to get serious about processed food and how it’s made, what it contains and how it made its journey to this island.

We had a thriving vegetables growing industry twenty years ago. Then the likes of @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy wanted a bag of carrots for 50cent shipped over from south America. Thanks Tesco and Aldi.
