That thing on RTE last night about centenarians living in Ireland wasn’t very complimentary to teachers back in the old day.

Gas to see a 100 year old woman describe her national school teacher as an ould bitch.

There are 42 in her year starting today, so 2 classes of 21.

I think there are over 300 in the school at this point.

There are days I cannot believe I am not still 6 years old. i am not sure the “voice” inside your head changes all that much from then. It gets a bit of perspective maybe if you are lucky. Scary that at 80 it will be the same “voice”

My 8 year old daughter struggled with a speech impediment from the time she was 2 until she was 6. She is absolutely fine now. The speech therapist we had was very good but most of the work was done at home by ourselves. Its a tough slog but well worth it. As far as I can remember over 95% of cases can be cured completely with therapy… Also school was not a problem for her at all. Schools seem to be far more gentle and understanding places than they were in the past. Best of luck to ye with this and it can be very upsetting but it will be fine in time.

Our small girl started today too, seems grand with it all. She too has difficulties pronouncing some sounds but is also bi-lingual (English/Cantonese) so if people don’t understand her she reverts to the other language.

at least now you could just do one trip, for me that works out a bit better anyway

Thanks a lot pal, I was there this morning and she seemed fine, I’m home now and it seems she got on great, she’s been telling me about all the other kids who were crying, she’s a trooper. she has tomorrow off but no concerns about going in on Monday, quite relieved for the moment anyway.
I agree with all you’ve said, my wife in particular does great work with her and there’s a noticeable improvement in her speech month on month, my hope is that being in school will force her to self correct but my fear is that she will become terribly self conscious and get very quiet.
