Fine Gael are absolutely fantastic at misjugding the mood the people on the streets. They absolutely butchered a penalty kick of an election last time around due to being completely oblivious to the fact that the majority of the country weren’t seeing any benefit of the recovery.

ok, that is the recommendation which is a totally separate thing to minutes, which actually only says it is a consideration. Any chance you could link to the minutes, not being shitty, just the minutes on the site only seem to go to November 2015, so if you’ve seen them as you claim, I’d be interested too.
I said the minutes were all there on the site for a variety of topics.
As are many of the reports. There is the section from the report. There is lots of information on that website if you would like to go through it, there is the specific advice for ease of reference.
It’s not my issue that a great many people here (and more widely) don’t have the attention span to do their due diligence on various topics. You’re lucky that I went to the effort here.
Ferriter quoted that exact line in his statement, said it’s been taken out of context to suggest that the committee endorsed the Dublin Castle commemoration when it didn’t.
As regards “oppressed” believe it or not it’s possible for a normal working or middle class Irish person who is getting good paid for what they do to oppress someone.
Edit: I also made reference to that line in one of my posts above saying I was against the commemoration now.

I read the minutes on the website, none of them have discussions. I also read the guidance document which states:
If I’m too thick to find these elusive minutes, then so be it, but any chance you could link to where the minutes of these discussion are or what they contained? Because “consideration” on a guidance document is not discussion minuted.

The actual informant was a Protestant farmer named George Latimer who had sight of the flying column across Doonera lake. He “let it slip” in Mohill despite the duplicious cunt making his way there with the news. It was a 5/6 mile walk as you know.
It was an absolute cock-up of an ambush anyway from the off in that the column were below the level of the road and the auxiliaries just motored to the top of the hill and strafed the valley with machine gun fire.
Latimer had visitors about a month after who stood him at the corner of his haggard facing the ambush scene and shot him dead. The family fled within the month and the land (maybe 25 acres) was commandeered by neighbours before finalising title in the 60’s.

As expected this government are reactive rather than proactive. Guaging public mood and “feeling the temperature” and then abandoning all their principals, being forced into a backtrack and a fudge. This whole thing reminds me of one of the last episodes of the office when David Brent was on a date and brought up the issue of cleavage only for the conversation to meander to his date’s dead mother’s breasts. A monumental own goal.
