zach johnson will be hard pegged back… he’s a fairways, greens player and magnificent with his wedges. He plays all his pitches low and is perfectly suited to links golf.
I think 12 under might be the mark to be around on Sunday

Yeah all the stars align for him on a links course. He was crazy odds of 100-1 at the start. He is a grinder though and brilliant at scrambling for pars. Doesnt hit it a long way but that doesnt matter around Carnoustie. Mickelson had a 7 on 6. Only for that he’d be right up there too.
Phil has all the shots for links. I doubt we’ll every see golf like the exhibition himself and Stenson put on coming in, at an Open.
It just shows that the lads who depend on 50 yard fairways and drive, chip and putt courses come unstuck at a place like this.
take away target golf for these lads and they struggle. A lot of pro’s now only have stock shots with wedges. Artists are going sadly and it’s becoming a game of distance
