Forgot to reply to you earlier. My 28-year old self would have been absolutely disgusted. But whatā€™s that oft repeated mangled adageā€¦the man who hasnā€™t changed is the man who hasnā€™t grown/developed. Or something like that.

I was observing the parkrun volunteers at the finish line when watching the race a couple of weeks ago and two words came to mind: Social Democrats. Your typical parkrun volunteer is a nice, enthusiastic, inoffensive type. No bitterness or cynicism. Just harmless sorts out to do a little bit of good for the wider community. We should all strive to bring that parkrun mentality to life (cc @Tassotti).

Iā€™ll be engaging in what regulars call ā€œparkrun tourismā€ this morning (cc @Tassotti). Planning a gentle jaunt around Newbridge House & Gardens for the first time. :handshake::running_man:

Iā€™m giving the new one in Abbotstown a go this morning. Uses the cross country track beside the National Sports Campus.

@Spidey
Has anyone compiled an Irish list of best places to go for a fry after visiting a parkrun, we have a good few facebook groups on the mainland into that sort of thing

That would be a noble idea.

No cakes post abbotstown in line with its National sports campus high performance culture. Porterstown has gone to the dogs with the route comprising of higher number of laps of a reduced track due to Fingal building works.

Lisa still does a mean blackberry sponge cake and chocolate brownie tray though.

Iā€™ll open with Finneganā€™s just up the road from UL. I read online somewhere that they do a good breakfast.

Oā€™Sullivans in Gort do a great fry after working up a savage appetite in Coole Park

You doing this @Bandage

Iā€™m not. Did it last November but giving it a miss this time.
