The Pretend Fitness Thread

Got a multi sport one back in November. It’s made things much easier. Works on bike and in the water too

Go out slower and you’ll come back faster. Your aim should be for your fastest km to be mid-end of run. It takes discipline - I used to fly off and find that I was taking 30 seconds longer a km. By going a tad slower at start, I’ve found that by the end of runs, I’m peaking and have more in tank (see above example from yesterday)

Every second you go out too fast at the start will cost you two at the end

Fair play to you lads, pace yourself at the start and you will finish big…that’s mind blowing stuff. Surely some big sports journalist would be interested in your theory?

One more jibe and I’ll force you to tap out from a rear naked chokehold.

Inspired by this thread, I’m just back in from an impromptu 5k. I’ll publish the results when i get in to work tomorrow. Early post run feeling: Deflation.

This is from a while back as I’m back on the bike again in an attempt to be a better prepared for this season than I was last year.

This run is me flat out over 5.5km

Done a 5k there in around 25 minutes. Didn’t really go flat out as I wanted to make sure I’d finish it, could get it down to 21 or 22 handy enough I’d say if I stick at it.

Anything over 20 mins for 5k is poor.

You couldn’t run for 20 minutes not to mind 5k in 20.

Stick up a screenshot of your time so Choccy

I’m not a sad fucker out running around with devices strapped to me with a headband and wrist bands on…I simply look at the clock leaving the house and as I come back in the door…

But what’s the app you have above? i haven’t ran in about 5 weeks pal as i’ve been very ill… but i might take you up on that challenge.

If you’re just doing a 5km run and leaving it all out there, about 21/22 mins is very achievable. Going below 20 mins means running sub four minute kms, not impossible by any stretch at all but needs a good deal of training. My first run in about fifteen years (last year) was a 5k in about 24 mins so it’s easy to see where one can improve.

Mate, all i will need is 2/3 sessions once the aids has passed and i’ll piss a 5k in 19 minutes… you’ve lads here running 4/5 times a week for years and they are still above 23 mins, fucking wasters.

@glasagusban , what times are you looking at, kid?

good man Chocco. Personally I’m not even sure if 5km at 22-25 mins constitutes a run; it’s more a jog or a warm up/cool down before/after gym

Where/what are these apes above tracking their runs on? I’d be tempted to do the same at football… we play full (astro) pitch once a week, 10 or 11 a side, and I reckon I cover ridiculous ground, near top athlete levels.

Agreed. A 25 minute jog counts as a trot, not a run.

@ChocolateMice, not a clue. I did a 10k a while back in 50 minutes or so having only done about 3 jogs in a year. That’d be the only time and distance for a run I’ve done in a few years that I’m aware of.
