The Pretend Fitness Thread

Bullshit.

50 mins is about average for 10k - not bad but not great… I’m up for the challenge if you are… we can pick a date, all use the same app and log it here. 5 or 10 k I don’t mind, I havent ran more than 5k in over a year but i’d still beat most of the forum no problem.

You said a minute ago you cover way more than 5km every week in soccer, you cover what a “professional athlete” would cover you said.

That’s different, pal… that’s intermittent… I haven’t continuously jogged for more than 5k in over a year.

@Bandage, @Locke , @caulifloweredneanderthal - I take it you are all in? Tag what ever other gimps use these apps to time their runs too.

Oh yeah it’s nothing to be writing home about. Puts lads bleating on about 5k in 25 minutes in perspective though. @smark is seething.

That high intensity soccer match would be far more beneficial though than the lads just dragging their arses behind them doing the 5kms once or twice a week. You can’t beat that kind of regular, competitive, constant moving and breaking into sprints training over a fella trudging about the roads. What you are doing is even better exercise than the lads pushing the buggies in front of them while jogging. So you’re being slightly disingenuous in painting yourself up as some kind of slub that’s just going to get off his couch and beat the aforementioned lads over 5km.

Because you’re a bluffer. You said you did 10km in 50minutes “or so”. You didn’t even time it FFS. So it could have been 55mins? 56mins? Go away and don’t be wasting my time i’m a serious road runner.

That’s what’s the clock said as I crossed the line anyway. I have a sneaky suspicion I may have been a bit faster than that but I have no need to brag.

The clock said your time is “50 minutes or so”. And who drags a clock around with them while running anyway. You’ve been caught out bluffing here.

The big digital clock above the finishing line of the timed 10k. You’ve probably never seen one of them but they’d be common enough. I said “or so” as I started near the back so I don’t think it would have been an accurate time for me. Now relax pudgey.

10 km in 50 minutes is 5 km in 25 minutes X 2, no?

I used to be the same when I used to run. I’d just have a quick look at the clock leaving and then again returning. I never used to map out the 5 km either, just ran for what felt like 5 km.

Running a 10k is not a good gauge of fitness. Since people are built to cover long distance others not so much…

I suppose so Horsey mate

Naturally. You could say the same of most any other race, exercise or fitness test.

No, I generally find fitness tests are a good gauge of fitness…

Obviously different tests will show different aspects of fitness.

fun runners discussing their “times”

Has TFK come to this level of cuntishness

Guys, I’m worried this thread has taken a competitive turn. I preferred when we displayed solidarity and supported each other’s endeavors without criticism or judgement. What harm if we have dreadfully slow fun runners like @croppy_boy in our midst.
