23km at 25.6km ave this morning before work. 300 odd metres climbed
The novelty of one of these new gadgets might actually get me off my hole and do a bit of running
I’d order one today mate. It will have a great effect on your life
What’s the best one with GPS and HR monitor built in? This could be revolutionary.
I have the garmin f220. Heart straps are optional with nearly all models I didn’t bother with it. It’s unreal kit just plug it into the laptop after every run to analyse your data
16.5km (1hr24) run yesterday afternoon, followed by solo cycle of 90km this morning (av 25.7km/780m). Solid weekend of training.
1.37 is my half marathon record pal. I’d love to see you smash it.
In your fucking dreams princess
not a hope my friend. I’m only a jogger, so I’d be happy enough with 1.45 - 1.49 to be honest. I never had any pace, but just a bit of endurance.
I do intend to smash a geographer out there though pal. Either I’ll knock him over or come in ten minutes before him
I can’t get my 1.37 - but here’s a 1.4ish two years later which wasn’t bad…My only training for this was 37 laps of the Mary I GAA field 10 days before it.
Great running. Mine is 1.38, did it in Kinvara in March. Going to be to tough to beat that again.
That’s good ridin’
Good stuff.
Yeah, in the three I did the one I trained most for i did worst - 1.50 tho it was my first one.
Really depends on how you feel on the day… for my best, i ran half of it with the sub 1.30 marker but trailed off…
Hard to know how a race will go until you’re a few miles in. I ran just ahead of the 1.40 pacers and tore off at 9 miles.
Done any marathons?
No… and I doubt I ever will. Always thought I would but after doing a few half marathons I have no interest… that amount of running aint good for you and I enjoy strength training and playing footie too much to give it up for that level of running.
Yeah you have to do a ridiculous amount of training for them alright.
I’ve done a few but I’m sticking to shorter distances from now on.
Are you training for a triathlon? I couldn’t run and cycle.
Adventure races. Cycle-Hike-run-kayak. Combinations of that usually.
Some days I’ll do a cycle and then a run straight off the bike
I went out today with the new Garmin forerunner 15 for the first time. Unreal. I love the way it beeps after every km you do, really keeps you on your toes and it’s way easier to judge how you’re going. Before i never knew how i was getting on until right at the end as was using the timer on my phone attached to my arm. As a result i did my best time in about two months, did a 25.40. Immediate aim is to do sub 5min km’s and as a result do a sub 25min for 5km and tbh that’s the main goal. After that i might try for a sub 50min 10km, i’ll see.
Only thing is afterwards i was absolutely fucked on my right hip. I was limping badly all about the place and it was just tight and a bit sore. Left one was fine. It has been at me after my runs now the last few weeks but today was the worst. @Bandage do you still get the hip pain from running? I better get a foam roller for this job because i’m fucked if i’m giving up running over this.
