Did the Dingle Adventure Race this morning. Toughest event I’ve ever done. Was hoping for 4 hours 30, and made 4’14, just in top 100. The winner was 2’57. Some lunatic. We had one lad who did 3’36. Animal. Beer going down very well. I’m
Not doing a tap for a week.
Think a few of my mates are down at that. No better spot for beering
What’s involved in it again? Running, biking and kayaking is it? Tell us a bit about distances please mate. That’s good going I hear its tough anyway.
Unreal. I love hearing this kind of thing. Lad’s going that extra mile. Theres a marathon over the north downs soon, some of it involves climbing up rocks with your bare hands
It’s relatively short at 48km but there’s no easy part. 24km cycle including the 7km drag up Connor’s Pass at the start. I’m generally strong at the bike but didn’t do well there today. Then it’s about a 7km hike up mountain Brandon. You can run bits up but there’s parts where you’re pretty much on your hands and knees climbing over rocks. Most of it is a hike up. 3km or so back to the road downhill through mountain terrain and then a 10.5km run on the road. That’s where a lot of people really suffer. Then 2km in The kayak and then 1km back to finish line
Jaysus I doubt my lads were doing that. Is there just a road race too ?
There’s two Shorter routes alright for women and fat lads .
That sounds more like it
That’s a v good time. 8 of my mates did this a few years ago as part of off season training. All in pretty good nick. All finished between 4 hour 30 and 5 hour 30 except for one sickening cunt who decided he would do it a week beforehand, borrowed a bike for the day and did it in 3hr 02 and finished in top 10.
That was the end of the adventure race for the lads
Good effort. You should have a read of “feet in the clouds” about fell running if you really want to see some ludicrous times. @Declan_Moffat, the record, iirc from the bottom to the top of snowdonia, and back down again is 39 minutes.
Edit, the more I think of it, the better that effort is. Climbing mount Brandon must be akin to Croker??
By all accounts far tougher than Croagh Patrick according to friends who’ve done Gael Force up there.
That’s savage going. The lad who was 3rd this year was around that time. The first fellas in haven’t a pick on them.
Yeah it was unreal performance. He was a kiwi rugby player in supreme condition to be fair. He fair sickened the lads holes for them and they training all summer for it
I’ll do it next year and will smash it.
id say you could do anything you put your mind to.
I have a lovely way of running/cycling/kayaking
You’d fly around it pal. You’d probably even be first in on the cycle just using one of them Coke Zero bikes
Did a spin this morning before work, got one in before the weather kicks in. When I looked at the distance I had done, 42km, I thought how the fuck could you run that distance. If I was to run what I just cycled. Major kudos to those of you have have run a full marathon
you’d want your head examined
When is the race mate
