The Pretend Fitness Thread

I swim very poorly and my legs always feel heavy as fuck for the rest of the day after it.
I find the Rowing machine gets boring very quickly

Bike - weights as cardio? Full body workout using your body weight? Burpees, squats, lunges, push-ups etc. etc

Most boring yoke in the world. You’ll do more harm than good on a rowing machine if your technique isn’t right anyway.

HIIT classes? Bike otherwise I suppose.

You should try go to the gym and doing 10 reps of sticking your thumb up your hole

Take one or two private lessons in swimming and you won’t know yourself. If your legs feel heavy the you’re probably not keeping then straight enough when you’re kicking.

I found Battle Core about classes excellent least year as well. Minimal leg work that was impacting.

Crossfit is strongly recommended on TFK.

Get up on the bike, kid. 30-35 minutes on the bike at a good pace and relatively high wattage is a good workout.

@caoimhaoin
would you have any opinions in Maximuscle cyclone as a pre gym work out snack?
im not eating right all lately (am working on it), for example at 7pm last night i had 2 bananas and then before i went to bet at 1 30 i had a bowl of rice krispies and a cup of tea
we have Junior C training later… i had turkish coffee, a croissant and a yogurt with granola and berries that the wife made for breakfast, might have a sandwich for lunch but that could be it till tonight when i get home

I’m an animal on the bike.

There’s a setting on it called Sports Intervals. Usually do about 25 minutes of them.

did one of those on a threadmill the other day
felt like a complete hero as it went to incline 5.0 and speed 11.5, i pretended i was a horse at one stage, going out in the country to Ballyhack after 7 mins and then approaching the canal turn when i was bolluxed at 22 mins
i never know on one of these yokes what are u meant to do, what speed are you to set the thing to or program, i mean is 25 minutes ok?
i usually just tear off at a pace and am gone by 20 mins or so, dunno how fellas would be on them watching the 9 o clock news or whatnot

Yip, a watt bike is the ideal machine if available.

Swimming also good but it just depends on what you need it for (i assume football conditioning maintainence)

Ya.

What’s a watt bike?
Is that a spinning bike or the standard gym exercise bike?

Not ideal to replace food with supplements but if you have no option it is certainly better than nothing.

You’d know it if you saw it.

Ya the very fancy ones are probably that by now.
Technology has out paced them a bit so somebody could get away with tge lesser version for 1250 or whatever it is.

HIIT Classes?

great training session tonight in sunny North Kildare
15 men present
some passing drills, a bit of shooting, back and forwards and a penalty competition
game monday v Clane
im pretending to be Ryan Mchugh after watching him last week, its unreal
was watching the seniors training for a while on one of the adjacent pitches, it appeared to be seriosuly tactical stuff and would loved to have wathched it more, it was very much focusing on disposession, and recovery , i watched them v Sars the other night in the league and it was very defensive, fellas seemed confused a bit
great thing about junior c is there is one of nthat… full back line dont venture beyond the 21,in involved in the half back . midfield ruckus but upon winning possession direction is to funt it forward
