true enough, but wouldn’t want to be relying solely on that
these charity races can have small crowds, could be poorly marked out or no water stations
might not be much to tell you where you are in the race, nothing worse than being surprised to see the finish line a few hundred yards up ahead and plenty still in the tank
now that you mention it, how well do you know the course runt?
you could have a trial run around the course.
know where the climbs and descents are, pick a spot for someone to hand you a water bottle, try to pace yourself around the course
that way there’ll be no doubt in your mind you can finish, no surprises on race day and you’ll have the benefit of a time in mind to beat
fair enough so.
although i’m a little disappointed by your attitude. the rest of us are trying our damnedest to turn you into a lean mean running machine and you can’t be arsed to head for west clare for a few hours?
in that case, make sure to have a light breakfast at least 3 hrs beforehand, to take a good shit and stop drinking water about 30 mins before the start of the race
good socks and shorts essential, make sure it’s gear you’ve worn before.
let us know how you get on, seems yourself, KP, WB and FP are the only ones on this thread actually doing anything
I’m doing the Ballyvaughan 10k in a few weeks all going well.
Good tip TE, make sure you take a good shite that morning.
Went for a run in Kilcornan woods yesterday, had to make a short detour after a mile to empty the shit tank. Wiping your ass with an green sycamore leaf is not for the faint hearted.
It hasn’t been announced yet but it’s part of a bigger charity event being held the first weekend in July. I think the running is only a side event to the main event (a cycle) and probably won’t be a serious one.
That’s the spirit. Do you want a loan of a good jersey for the event? I could lend you my Owls jersey and you’ll look very nifty. I 'm sure you have the toggs and socks from the football…
