The Pretend Fitness Thread

:joy:

You couldn’t even sort our Princess after you made a fuck of the hoover.

What a time to be alive

Three years ago this place was awash with tight-hamstring, inactive glutes, shortened hip flexors, irn bru drinking, craft beer guzzling fatsos

We’ve captured the zeitgeist again lads.

Looking forward to this weeks long run. After runs in the Baltic wind and horizontal snow I’m looking forward to balmy 5C conditions here in Cork. Will do at least an hour and a quarter. Update to follow

Best of luck @Locke. Aiming to do a 2 (Two) hour one myself in the morning before heading to Dublin for the hurling. Will also report back :running_man:

Are you cycling less and running more lately, pal? Are you training for a triathlon?

I’m currently doing one day explosive/bodyweight type exercises, one day heavyish weights, one day of endurance weights/bodyweight exercises, and a run a week. Want to start working some yoga in too, I tend to neglect stretching when I’m tired and hungry after exercise.

You will end up a wreck unless you incorporate mobility into your regime

You’re right. Which is why I mentioned it. I do a rake of stretching after my run but often too tired and hungry after the other days to bother with it. @count_of_monte_crist sent me on a PDF of becoming a supple leopard a good while back, which I must try dig out and read. Are you still at the bodybuilding?

Not sure I was ever bodybuilding or close to it Still lifting weights and have started metcon type stuff. Go for an odd run once a week to clear my head.

Current ambition is to get to 25 pull ups in one go.

Tried Olympic lifting but my mobility is just not good enough so would be wasting my time. Did give me a prompt to work on that more and try and commit to it. Some good stuff on Instagram but as you say it is hard.

Mobility my downfall as well - Time is limited in life and I find I just about get my workouts in. I do foam roll and do stretches in fits and spurts… but it’s difficult to do it all, brah. What’s metcon?

Metabolic Conditioning.

Go on -

Have a look at moveu_official on instagram

Gives you some good ideas and also shows how fucked up most of us are in terms of what we should be able to do.

Can’t swim for nuts so triathlons are out. Going to do the Ballycotton 10 again this year so training for that. Plan on doing the Cork half too. But cycling also. Have said elsewhere that I’ve not drank alcohol since the new year and I’ve focused more on being healthier. So I’ve a target of 30 training runs before the B10 with a weekly target of 15km. Today was training 19 so I’m well on the way.
Bit of cycling in there too which is nice to do also, more sociable.
I was 98 (ninety eight) kgs on the 27th Dec and I’m now 94.5 (ninety four and one half) kgs. To borrow a phrase or two I’m feeling great, loads of energy, mind is largely clear and way more focused. Definitely think that being off the drink helps a huge pile.

Here are the stats…

The Pairc is coming along…

Hard luck, mate. Keep plugging away and you’ll get up to an hour and a quarter eventually.
