The Pretend Fitness Thread

Haven’t done the VO2 test yet but would like to do it later this year. If you’ve done and you know your zones you might as well use them!

Do you do it down a centre like a NCT?

Something like that CM

I’ll take a whatsapp on the finer points of it

A friend went to this guy recently

http://www.myhealthmatters.ie/

Basically they run you to exhaustion with an oxygen mask on a treadmill. You start at a walk and then the speed and incline are gradually increased, taking note of your heart rate and, I presume, oxygen capacity, on the way. They note your recovery times, heart rate, etc. and tell you at the end what heart rate zones you should be doing your running/cycling/etc. at. The highest zone is for one minute max efforts, then one for intervals and tempos, one for slower stuff (aerobic zone if training longer than 30 minutes)and the lowest zone for recovery.

One of the local clubs got the guy mentioned by @caulifloweredneanderthal linked above down and he measured about 15 of us over two days. I did it more out of curiosity than anything.

Liam Miller was meant to be off the charts at this test

His GAA background

Went for a long jog around Limerick this morning. My average heart rate was 143, which would be low Zone 3.

FAO @Locke. Officially logging times for the official TFK funrunning

charts.

I was barely sauntering around pal. Note the usage of the word “jog”. Very steady run with the aim that I’d have been well able to keep going at the point where I stopped

you will be a cripple by the time your 40

@caoimhaoin have some words with this chump and save him from himself
