It went fine. I stayed about 10 days away and went back again like I’d never left. I’ve hit a other unrelated health snag now so I’ll probably be off it for another few weeks unfortunately.

I ran a 5km in 26:44 yesterday. There was a km in the middle where I wasn’t conscious of my calf. I just lengthened my stride, really opened my legs and started expressing myself. I think the split was 4:32 or something. I’m on the way back. I can go below 25 minutes.

That’s serious running
In a tale of unbelievable consistency I took 1 (one) second off last weeks time at the BHAA event down by the Marina - 24:21. I’m disappointed as it was a flat track. But in fairness I did drive back down from Dublin and I was at Stevie Wonder last night with a dose of the trots so I’ll take it. Great turn out this evening, fierce close conditions with a light shower before we started.

What was the course on the Marina?
Run just after it rains. The humidity makes you run faster
Was down the back of the crowd so started slowly, know better the next time. Did a crap 4th km, lost 10 seconds on that one. Track below

Don’t beat yourself up. If you take a crap on a run and only lose 10 seconds you’re up there with the greats such as Paula Radcliffe.
