The Pretend Fitness Thread

Ah here. My barb back to the jumped up little gimp was specifically tailored for the occasion.

@Tassotti - I had a massive “slice” of carrot cake with a cup of tea last night at 9.30pm. It was more of a block of cake than a slice as the best before date was 3rd August.

That might have been my issue right there.

Apology accepted.

I told a junkie on Abbey street that was annoying me to “jog on” a few weeks ago. He nearly hit me with his crutch.

@Bandage can claim to run as fast as a Luas now

I’ve a 35km goal per week that I’m not hitting but have to do cycling these days as prep for next week. But doing a slow 6 mile and a more tempo run over 7 miles then a long one at the weekends. Will hang up the bike Sunday week and then will up the mileage after that.
Smashed my 5km pb the other night at the BHAA at Novartis. Hill finish but grafted hard and came in at 23:35, took nearly to a minute off my previous pb

What kind of dog have you? Does it go on all the runs with you?

She’s a terrier but she has long legs, goes with me most of the time but I would rarely take her over 10k, sometimes I loop back and drop her home if it’s gonna be long

I’m flat out with the hurling hardly have time for my own dog.

Definitely went sub 30 minutes in parkrun this morning. A nervous wait now until times are sent out later.

Do you find the park run distance longer than 5k? My map my run virtual assistant has me hitting the 5k mark 50-100m before the park run finishing line. Has happened in 3 different locations

You are not running the optimal/running line. You will always end up running further than the distance you intended.

I visited a different venue this morning, chatting to the RD before hand he advised me there a down hill section on the back stretch that I “could really open up my legs” on

I’m doing the Manchester half in eight weeks. Thus far I have been running about 10k every other week. Need to step up a bit. My plan is to do 10k twice a week for a few weeks, then one 15k ish run, then taper.

What time are you aiming for? Maybe do a bit of speed work as well. Horse around some 400M or 800M intervals if theres a running track nearby.

Knees aren’t up to a track really. Tore a meniscus in the left one years back and have avoided surgery since by being careful, but have to watch it. I’m looking to go under two hours.

A few shorter slightly faster runs thrown in when you’ve a chance will make a difference, you’ll find the half very tough going on that training schedule
