Surely they’ve been planning and prepping for this for the last 5 years? Contactless payments on public transport is hardly revolutionary.

Serious question - the Brits had this on buses in 2012 and rolled out to Tube, Trains and DLR in 2014. Why has it taken us 10 years before even starting to do it?

Very weak excuse. There’s enough highly paid people in the NTA to drive things like this. The Transport Minister has little to do with it.

  • 100 new rural bus routes
  • new ticketing system
  • improved active travel infrastructure
  • hourly Enterprise trains
