The Public Transport Thread

2027 was the date. Speculation it could be earlier.

Daragh Cassidy on X: “The annual taxsaver bus, Luas and Dart ticket I have used to cost me just over €1,800 (before tax relief) a year. It was reduced by around €300 thanks to @EamonRyan two years ago. It’s now going down to under €1,000 a year. That’s a big saving!” / X (twitter.com)

anyone know what plans are on track mean?

Cork Greens on X: “Oireachtas committee hears Irish Rail’s plans for Cork ‘on track’ for 2026 Chief executive officer at Irish Rail Jim Meade said: ‘The plan will treble the Cork commuter rail network’s capacity.’ All projects in the Cork Area Railplan are now underway https://t.co/V362e4Qfnf” / X (twitter.com)

It’s a railway joke.

Between this, the energy credits and renters tax credit the Government have significantly reduced the cost of living for young people.

Some of this has been eaten up in other bits of inflations, but there are tangible 4 figure improvements there for people if they could be bothered to go beyond headlines.

wait until the wind turbines are built in 2027 (damn you ABP) we will see a huge drop in prices then

I got a few extra quid in the wages today.
The cut to the college registration fee has been massive help for us too.

Wonder why bother why fabric and not just go with plastic seating?

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy

DART+ West Railway Order expected to be granted next month. Also suggestions that DART+ SW will not require an oral hearing so hopefully a speedy RO for that by summer too.

Metrolink oral hearings starting on the 19th, expect newspaper articles of various muppets getting up there for their irrelevant observations.

Amazing, hopefully a bit of movement on them all before the election

Ryan must be the best politican in living memory

Some nimbys in swords against it already

Can you ladybird out the timeline of the next steps of Dart+ West for me pal? I thought the RO was to be approved in 2023. When does the project business case go to government for approval?
Will we see shovels in the ground this decade?

2025 shovels in ground for metro

Cool will only mean a year of disruption to people in not being able to drive through city centre

Nimbys are the real enemy of the irish people. Long over due a few new rail lines in ireland and dublin in particular

No oral hearing was then. RO shortly.

DART+ has government approval. Nothing moves to RO without it.

Be great for me with the free travel.
