The Road To Cheltenham 2023

Willies. Had ran for Tony just before the Covid lock down.

Or just not have Graded bumpers at all apart from the Land Rover one in Punchestown

there are 4 graded bumper races throughout the year in Ireland. Not a big problem and 2 of them are for mares. Do you just not want lads to be breeding at all?

If I was getting rid of anything I’d be getting rid of graded juvenile hurdles.

There should be no graded bumpers.

the bowe’s would disagree. In fact every breeder in Ireland would majorly disagree.

what’s your reasoning for it?

Why is a schooling race considered one of the major festival races?

the juvenile thing?

what they should do is restrict all bumpers to conditional and amateur jockeys and leave the graded status

If you want flat black type run in a flat race.

The whole black type system is completely broken and fairly meaningless.

black type is black type… they’re all flat sires pal

if a N.H mare throws a black type bumper winner then it is fairly signifcant for the breeders

Youve horses running to 120 getting “black type” then you can have mares running to 150 in a handicap and get no black type.

It’s completely broken.

Horses should be rated on official ratings and nothing else.

It would be much better for the racing fan and much fairer for the breeders and pin hookers/future owners.

a 4 year old won’t rate as well at a 7 year old. Fucking hell. By that logic no novice race should be graded either?

You can put the age beside the rating.

The black type system for jumps racing is completely broken.

you’re saying breeding is broken and you’ll fix it by removing graded bumpers?
what kind of a page would you have?

No I’m saying the black type system is completely broken. It’s meaningless.

You could have a mare 5th in a competitive handicap hurdle at a festival with no black type and then a mare who trotted around clonmel on a Thursday in a five runner mares race for third place getting black type. It’s meaningless.

You’ve so much technology available nowadays to rate a horses ability.

Bumpers were brought in to help people sell horses. You’ve schooling bumpers and hurdle races nowadays too behind closed doors in thurles.

and yet people still look for black type on a mares page… go figure

Minella Cocooner, a leading fancy for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, is set to miss the race through injury, according to the Racing Post.

I’m beginning to think Saint roi is a massive price for the arkle.

Dysart dynamo and Jonbon won’t hang around and it could set it up for a closer.

Saint roi really turns up in Cheltenham too. If he improves from Christmas he’ll be a force.

You could be looking at 5 or 6 runners too.

I think Appreciate It will run in the Arkle with Townend riding and win it. I would be a little worried about Saint Roi jumping.
