The schools

I’m informed a tentative agreement has been reached centred around SNAs getting bumped up in the vaccine queue

I’ll give you another month and you should be firing my table up as your avatar again

INTO and Forsa have said No. If this government had any balls, schools open on Thursday and any teachers or SNA’s that don’t turn up are on strike.

if you need any help with maths dont hesitate in sending me an IM- if he is doing lower he probably has de prioritised but ensure anyway he gets a decent mark- as you can fail that if the interest drops

Emma O’Kelly has just confirmed on 9 o’clock news there a few minutes ago that government have said they’re not opening on Thursday.

Would these things go to a vote among all members in the unions?

No, it would not.
This was very poorly planned and executed. It actually requires a bit of thinking outside the box, children who need to be in school could have been sorted out, but the majority of parents with children in special schools do not want their children in school at the moment, and they would have suffered if their teacher was teaching a class all day and planning for the kids in front of him or her,
Teaching in a special school is very different to mainstream teaching, there would literally not be enough hours in he day to do a service to everybody in that situation, lip service to both groups maybe

The situation is very serious and I feel very bad for the likes of @ChairmanDan

I’d also feel bad for teachers who are asked to go back to work but don’t want to.

Every single day we’ve turned on rte for 12 months nearly we’ve been told about this deadly virus. They’ve created a fear amongst certain people and understandably now people who listen to the news don’t want to go back to work.

It seems the virus is only deadly in certain scenarios that suits the government.

Would sending the special needs kids in for an hour or so a day and the special needs teachers do out a timetable that has them in full day not work? Would seem safe from a covid point of view then. Just in to check in and help them with their work.

Is this situation completely unprecedented? Unions are basically facing down the government, refusing to work yet are remaining on full pay as they’re not on strike!

SNAs have to be hand on, ie direct one on one. I think that along with the absence of regular testing is the major stumbling block. Granted if the will was truly there they would have found a way between all of them

Outside of parenting it’s a child’s most important interaction

I think Norma is toast, nothing in the bank and damaged goods across the board going forward
