The Seamus Harnedy Appreciation Thread
Kerry lads simply shouldnā€™t be troubling themselves with hurling matters is this is going to be the standard.
Of course Davy would have room for him, just not in the top 26, please read my posts more carefully before responding
I believe that there is room for a player of Lehaneā€™s calibre in a 26 man Clare man panel. If he was able to cut through the clare defence for a goal like that in the all Ireland drawn game, ye surely have room for him. That defence has a good few all stars or lads in the shake up for them

Referencing my county of origin isnt a great indication of the standard of your posts though you plenty to say about the standard of mine! You cannot be that confident in your position on the debate if you have to bring up that I am from kerry. Or maybe it is just a dose of post all Ireland arrogance. Btw plenty of people in Kerry can play hurling and play it well. One of St Flannans finest ever was a kerryman. Maybe you werenā€™t aware of this or that they are a few hurling clubs in north Kerry? Ignorance or arrogance? Eire Og Ennis know all about one of them

thatā€™s better, see my belt woke you up, he didnā€™t really cut through the defence if you remember, did he? And the shot was very weak and should have been saved, but he is very talented.
I think Fergal Lynch (purely for what he brings WRT physique) Tots Oconnell, Cathal Mc and a full fit Honan would get selected ahead of him, we have another very very talented played joining the panel next year called Bobby Duggan. Trust me he would have to work very hard to make the 26

Iā€™d say if I said you before the AI final that somebody like Shane Odonnell should start ahead of Lehane youā€™d have laughed too

Honanā€¦ ahead of Lehane or Harnedy,in basketball maybe.

no I wouldnā€™t have laughed before the all Ireland replay at that suggestion. Sure Darach Honanā€™s form wasnā€™t so hot to suggest that a change was out of the question. I would have laughed if someone suggested that Clareā€™s 6 forwards were so good that they wouldnā€™t be considering a change for the replay. Sure who was really that surprised that Oā€™Donnell started? Cork werenā€™t even surprised but ended up surprised at his impact.

I note you have back tracked a little to state that he would have to work hard to make the 26 rather than the more definite earlier statement. I reckon he is good enough for the 26. Thatā€™s the view from a Christy Ring county that you demeaned. Maybe we are the real " little fish" that Davy was on about are the replay!

I donā€™t think he would make the 26ā€¦and Iā€™ve stated why (even leaving out Peter Duggan,). No back track at all iā€™m afraid, just a clear justification, open to debate sure, but its safe to say Iā€™ve a good deal more knowledge on Clareā€™s forwards than you have watching them week in week out
Iā€™m delighted you feel demeaned, thatā€™s often a good starting point, maybe you and a few more might make an impact down there and you wont always be the small runt sucking on the hind teat even inside your own countyā€¦

Much like how Clare treat football eh.

Yesā€¦same, whatā€™s your point?

The point was obvious and made. Did you ever get a chance come up with your definition of what a ā€˜realā€™ Irishman was?

your point is not obvious? re real Irishman query, I can certainly understand your worries

Thatā€™s extremely weak. To be expected.

Never heard of it

Never heard of it

In my opinion, Lehane is an absolutely fantastic hurler, and would have scored all three of the goals that o donnell scored in the same circumstance. There are several ic forwards who would have, but o donnell did, and the rest is history. I would have Lehane on any team sheet, but the Clare forwards are all world class and there is an argument to be made for any of them.

Why do people discount scores from frees so much in GAA? If anyone could score them whoever got fouled would just pop them over. Fact is its the most accurate player on the team and often the best forward who takes them in both codes. An awful lot of frees are much harder than tap over scores from play yet thereā€™s always a kind of asterisk beside them if someone scores a lot from frees.

Very simplistic. Very few forwards would have had the positional sense and intelligence that Oā€™Donnell had to make those positions for himself.

No, most IC forwards would. Not rocket science on a two on one to allow the lad with the ball to draw the defender.

Donā€™t worry Sean Og never heard of it either.

He would clearly make Clareā€™s panel and probably team. Darach Honan played in all bar 1 game despite not playing well in any of them.

Lehane isnā€™t within an arses roar of the first clare 15. Only patrick horgan would make the clare panel.

Anthony Nash is a better keeper than Patrick Kelly.
