The Sobriety Thread

The one yesterday came from a keg.

The first pull was mighty albeit lacking the taste of its alcoholic compatriot.

I left after one. The after taste was not good.

This is or has been the problem for me in the past. Alcohol being required for X, Y or Z. For a good night out, for a good auld hop etc. A crutch at the end of the day.

I prefer the keg delivery method for taste, as opposed to the can opener contraption. I suppose it might be, like it’s alcoholic counterpart dependent on how often the pipes are feeling the flow.

I’ve never felt the need for a third pint of it. However, I remember when I quit the booze, I’d sit in a Temple Bar pub and I’d be buying two bottles of non alcoholic lager at a time and put away a dozen of them easily. The adjustment period. It was all well and good until one day I was getting table service, and started feeling weird and instinctively looked at the label. The barman was bringing me the alcoholic version instead of the non-alcoholic. That was a lesson learned.

Never tasted them, but I’m gonna have a taste

The non-alcoholic drinks market looks unrecognisable, compared to about 20yrs ago. Great that we have options that aren’t coke and red bull.

My Mrs doesn’t drink anymore. We were in the Savoy hotel in Limerick on Saturday for a family thing and she had the non-alcoholic mojito with the ‘clean rum’ in it. Think it was 14/15 quid

That’s what kills me about the non alcoholic stuff. Beer costs are all alcohol tax.
I know the non alcholic stuff is more expensive to make but really they are just creaming it like the cunts they are. If I’m out and not drinking I’ll just have a bottle of sparkling water
