Francesca Cumani just on there.

Absolute quality

Did any of the lads at the Cheltenham Preview night in the Stillorgan Park back that yoke that Bolger was on about? It won today anyway. I was still in fucking bed

Intense Focus was it? Fook it, forgot all about it.

Thatā€™s a tip in itself really especially with his father having a horse in the race

Fancy Black Apalachi myself. Backed him in the Beecher and the Bobbyjo and he obliged both times. I owe him at least a few quid each way for those wins. Always like the Aintree meeting. Aintree Hurdle and the bowl are usually good races where opposing the favourite can pay dividends.

War of Attrition is out.

Really? There was a nice bit of money for him during last week.

Bold move by Punchestown but fair play to them for having the balls to make the decision. Better chance of seeing more racing this year because of it.

Punchestown opt for later start
Wednesday, 1 April 2009 14:43

Punchestown Racecourse have announced that the start times for the opening races for the first four days at the Irish National Hunt Festival have been moved an hour later to 3.45pm.

The move will see the seven race programmes run from 3.45pm through to 7.15pm on Tuesday 28 April to Friday, 1 May. The start time will remain at 2.45pm for Saturday 2 May.

This decision continues Punchestownā€™s policy of adapting to the current economic challenges and making racing more accessible to the general public.

After extensive consultation with all stakeholders it is felt that this adjustment will accommodate those racegoers who wish to carry out at least a half day of work prior to racing in a time when employment priorities are forefront in peopleā€™s minds.

The change means that the major races of the Punchestown Festival are now to be shown live on RT during primetime which significantly increases the potential viewership. Having consulted major sponsors including Kerrygold, Guinness, Rabobank, Ladbrokes and Ballymore, Punchestown can reveal that all are in favour of the alteration as it will increase brand exposure and facilitate the needs of their corporate guests and clients.

Racing industry bodies such as Horse Racing Ireland, the Irish Racehorse Trainersā€™ Association and members of the racing press are all in support of the initiative based on the positive effects it will contribute to the industry.

Dick Oā€™Sullivan, General Manager Punchestown, stated: 'The business world has changed more in the last eight months than it has in the last ten years so it was a case of adapting to the new circumstances.

ā€˜One of the most significant advancements we have made in recent times was to win back the support of the local community and we feel that by facilitating the hard working public we are making it easier to justify an afternoon at Punchestown with a decent days work under their belt.ā€™

ā€˜There are so many parties involved in the Punchestown Festival and having thought long and hard about this, we feel that it will benefit and add to the event. The success of the festival benefits the local towns and villages from hotels and pubs to shops and boutiques so to optimise the success of the festival will optimise the trade locally.ā€™

ā€˜Decisions in recent years, including the addition of the very successful concluding fifth day, have been good for racing and the race going public so we are confident about this latest initiative.ā€™

What are ye on here lads?

Iā€™ve Garde Champetre and One Cool Cookie done e/w.

Garde Champetre here too with Justpourit for an outside scoop.

No joy there. Looks like a couple of horses may have met there end as well unfortunately. Possibly Witchita Lineman and Drumconvis.

i had a 1 ew on niche market :frowning: had money on wichita lineman and one cool cookie too

I had Garde Champetre as well. Disappointing run, was never in it.
Looked like the big gamble was gonna pay off on Rare Bob there coming round the bend but he didnā€™t stay as well as the front two

I had Houdini, Arbour Supreme and Vic Venturi, no joy her either. Vic Venturi ran a great race, just didnā€™t quite stay.

Drumconvis and Wichita Lineman are dead. A wretched trip over for McCoy. Iā€™d say heā€™s sick of this JP retainer at this stage.

Gutted about Witchita Lineman. Always had a soft spot for him.

Yeah a grand tough horse. A real pity after his thrilling win at Cheltenham.

Yeah horrible to see, I always liked him as well as a horse.

As a horse as opposed to as what? A lover?
