wow, impressive. nichols has another good one there.
Great win for Solwhit. Some turn of pace over the last. Interesting to see how the season goes for him now. Also didnât realise that Master Minded was beaten as well. Fair oul win for Well Chief.
Just a quick question for ye more learned types, How come Paul Nicholls rarely if ever has any hurdlers? Seems like all his well known horses are chasers. Was just thinking about that today. Any insight?
Backed Master Minded to win, and was going to lay him for the place to cover myself, thinking that if one beat him then two would. Didnât in the end of course
Jered is an alright sort
Who won the World Hurdle last year MAD?! Fair question though, not sure of the answer.
Just looked up Cheltenham results from last year - American Trilogy won the Vinny OâBrien Hurdle, Pride of Dulcote second to Weapons Amnesty in another hurdle and Celestial Halo was second in the Champion Hurdle. Maybe not the same success as his chasers but not a bad record all the same!
P F Nicholls is a good trainer but heâs also a fat know-it-all.

Fair enough but Big Bucks had been chasing and they sent him back over hurdles, American Trilogy & Pride of Dulcote are being sent over fences this year aswell according to Nicholls. Celestial Halo had slipped my mind alright, but he definitely does seem to have more top class chasers.
I wouldnât be too keen on his demeanor myself, comes across as an arrogant prick when interviewed at times, he didnât look quite so comfortable when interviewed after Master Mindedâs race today though.
Maybe itâs just a cyclical thing? Iâm sure heâll have some hurdlers appearing over the course of the next couple of weeks.

Quel Cheval, Quel Cheval
American Trilogy was my biggest ever win, paid for my trip to Bari
Truf Club Press Officer: Cliff Noone.
Great name.
Bumper winner is Punchestown yesterday is a nice little horse, maybe not champion bumper standard but one for the notebook for going over sticks.
Fancied Solwith big time, but baulked in the end. Hurricane Fly has a bit work to get fit, and is still carrying a fair bit of condition, but he will be right for cheltenham and I would not oppose him in lepeordstown at christmas either.
Quel Esprit, is a star in the making as well, was a penalty kick on Saturday and 4/6 available before the on course books opened was generous.
Sizing Europe is the horse of the year so far, really jumping well, but want to see him jumping at a nit more pace before I am really convinced. think they should have brought him to Prestbury Park at the weekend.

Ya, but I suppose it was hard to turn the basically free money for them at Punchestown. 26k for a moderate enough novice chase in Novemeber isnât bad going.
That said it would have been good to see him up against a few better sorts. Although there is plenty of time left for that.
Its a long way to go to March but Sizing Europe looks like one of the best Ante Post bets in recent years. Still as high as 13/2 at the moment in some places. Mikael DHaguenetâs reappearance will be definitely be interesting to get an idea what direction he will take this year. I wouldnât be 100% sure yet that theyâll definitely send him to the RSA Chase.
Hurricane Fly has been eased in the betting on the grounds of a run on awful ground when he wasnât fully fit. Iâd agree with Hangblaa that he should be a banker over Xmas. Solwhit is now best price at 5/1 for the CH. Far too short in my opinion. Heâs a classy horse but I couldnât have him at that price at the moment. Be interesting to see where Byrnes sends him next. If Willie was training him Iâd say heâd be about 3/1 now.
I think Master Minded is the most intriguing of all. His last 2 runs now have been sub standard. He barely got in front of Big Zeb in Punchestown having been lightly raced last year and while conceding 10lbs to Well Chief Iâd expect better from him. Big Zeb should probably have beaten him as well only for his jumping. Heâs as short as 11/8 now. The horse is utter class but something doesnât seem to be right with him. Youâd have to expect Nicholls will have him right in March but he could be well worth opposing next time out at a very short price.
I saw last week that Pukes mate Sam Thomas has lost the ride on Denman. Christian Williams will ride when Ruby is unavailable. I still think Denman can beat Kauto Star if they both stay fit and well.
On Materminded, I only saw the race once yesterday but it seemed to me was jumping off to the right alot which he doesnât normally do, would kind of indicate to me he was carrying or aggravated some sort of injury.
Mac, I believe Solwhit is going for the Fighting Fifth in Newcastle next. Theyâre going for the WBX Million Pound Bonus apparently.
Thereâs a rumour circulating that JP has purchased Dunguib. Thatâs all it is so far, a rumour. I canât confirm anything.
