He had a horse he managed to get beaten twice in bumpers at the start of last year, Massey shaw. The first was in Listowel when he looked to have a tonne in hand but was beaten by a short head, and the 2nd day he was beaten in a photo to ForPaddythePlasterer. Never appeared after that though, wonder what happened him. A decent jockey on board either of those two days and he would have pissed home.
He pissed home himself on one of his own in Cheltenham there last weekend didnt he?
Itās understandable that Barry would have his critics as heās not much good to ride but that said the fact heās no use is factored into the price you get so itās hard to have any complaints.
Also he is a TRUE amateur, in that heās not being paid unlike nearly every other āamateurā out there who are flouting the rules and getting paid handsomely under the counter.
Would have to agree with you HB. Nicholls said in his post race interview that the horse was never travelling well.
Puke looking for a scapegoat?
in fairness Fran and Hangblaa would you expect a top trainer like Nicholls to come out and say that Thomas gave a Kauto a pig of a rideā¦He has too much class to come out and criticise his jockey like that in public but I can guarentee you he wasnāt happy with the ride Thomas gave himā¦Thought Kautoās jumping looked fairly alright up until the third last then Thomas just made a pigās ear of it
Go onā¦
by him you know full well I mean Kauto Star:rolleyes:ā¦FFS donāt be taking things out of contextā¦
Anyone have anything for the weekendā¦Good enough racing at newbury and newcastle saturday and a good card in fairyhouse sundayā¦
Punjabi looks like the horse to beat inthe fighting fifthā¦Henderson and Geraghty are on fire at the minuteā¦
Sublimity all the way*
*I am possibly being sarcastic
Some seriously good racing in Fairyhouse today. 3 cracking grade ones. Was most impressed by horses who actually didnt win. Thought Cousin Vinny ran a fine race for his first one over hurdles. Heās down as favourite for the supreme novices hurdle but heāll have to prove himself before then. The run of the day though has to be Brave Inca coming in a very good second behind Catch Me having not run since April '07. Hardy ran a cracker again in third. Trafford Lad was a good winner of the novice chase but I thought the first 3 all had good runs particularly Rare Bob at 20/1.
Mention also for the winner of the bumper. Its owned by the same crowd that owned Macs Joy. Ironic that he won on the same day as Hardy and the Inca were running. French bred horse whose name escapes me but was a decent winner and quickened very well.

Hugo De Vincy or something like that. Won pretty smartly alright. I had great plans for a weekend full of racing but only ended up catching a few races yesterday and that bumper today.
Madison Du Berlais put in a tremendous run yesterday, but would have been interesting to see how Big Bucks would have done if he had jumped the last. Thats two weeks in a row Sam Thomas has been landed on his hole at the last.
Sam Thomas just fell at the second last when crusing in front in the 3.00 in Folkestone - zaccarova or something like that
Looking like Samās time maybe up with Nicholls. He wont confirm Sam for any of his runner next weekend
proper order tooā¦To reiterate an earlier point: Sam Thomas is a cuntā¦that is allā¦
poor oul Sam thomasā¦heās gone to piecesā¦thereās talk of Nicholls in the racing post having a word with Sir Alex to see how to restore thomasās confidenceā¦no doubting he has the abilityā¦
Article in todays indo saying he probably wont get the ride on Master Minded this weekend. Probably the beginning of the end for last years Gold Cup winner.
On a side point - I think Willie Mullins has uncovered a gem in Paul Townend. Seen a few of his rides over the last 2 weekends and well impressed by him. Where did he come from? Heard someone mentioning he was a flat jockey or something?
In fairness it has been a fairly shit month for nicholls stable compared to the high standard he has set for himself in the last couple of yearsā¦

Who would be likely to take overā¦I see Christian Williams had a ride for Nicholls over the weekend, could he be in the frame, Ruby makes out he will be back in less that 2 weeksā¦

Ya, he has been very impressive the past few weeks. He was knocking around on the flat last season alright, but the switch to jumps this year seems to be the making of him.
