Clearly everyone is delight with Henin’s return.
In other news, Radek Stepanek beat Ivo Karlovic in the Davis Cup semi 7-6 6-7 6-7 7-6 16-14. Probably the most boring thriller of all time. There should be a law against Karlovic.

[quote=“Rocko”]Some decent graphic analysis of Federer’s shot style:

Worst post ever. I was dead right to punch you in the pub on Friday.
Josepi may have been a year early in his 2009 celebrity death predictions
Tennis star Jennifer Capriati is being treated in hospital after a suspected drugs overdose, it emerged yesterday. The former Wimbledon semi-finalist’s family said she had accidentally taken too much of the medication prescribed by her doctor.
Her dad, Stefano Capriati, said that Jennifer, 34, was now “doing well”.
The American star, who has battled with substance abuse in the past, was rushed to hospital from a hotel in Riverbeach, Florida.
She made her professional debut aged 13 and by 16 had earned more than $1million.
But she then took a break from tennis and her life went out of control.
Her problems led to a spell in a drug rehab clinic but she won three Grand Slams after making a comeback.
Toronto Masters on at the moment, the first of three North American hardcourt Masters Series events before the US Open. The top four all made the semis. Murray had a two set victory over Nadal earlier. Fed a break up on Djokovic in the first set now.
These events usually give a very good form guide for the US Open, and I find these few weeks to generally be the best of the tennis season.
Toronto is in Canada dude. Impressive win for Murray although I think that was Nadal’s first tournament since Wimbledon so maybe slightly rusty. Federer won 7-5 in the third. Think Murray will go on and beat him. US Open will be interesting. Shame del Potro can’t defend it.
Eh, where did I say Toronto wasn’t in Canada dude?
Anyway, went to bed in the middle of the second set and recorded the end of it, taking the precaution to also record the following programme in case it went on beyond 2am. Anyway, that turned out to be not quite enough, as the recording frustratingly ran out at 30-30 in what proved to be the last game of the match! Didn’t see much of Murray, but Federer was seriously impressive. He destroyed Djokovic for a set and a bit, before his level slipped a little, but Djokovic played very well to get himself back into it. High quality match, and if Fed plays like that against Murray, I’d expect him to win. His forehand was sublime, which is very important because it’s generally the shot that goes when he’s not playing well.
There.
By golly, forgive my ignorance.
It’s okay. I find it quite amusing that you somehow spotted it 40 minutes after your first post!
Impressive stuff from Murray before the rain. His return of serve really is phenomenal when he’s on his game. I’d have it up there with Agassi’s.
It was playing on my mind.
Murray doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Agassi IMO.
His groundstrokes aren’t as good as Agassi’s, but I think his return of serve is comparable. And that’s saying something, because Agassi had been in a league of his own on that one in my time watching the game.
Still a dour cunt…
Most of Sampras’ tennis trophies, memorabilia stolen
LOS ANGELES (AP)—Tennis star Pete Sampras says most of his trophies and other memorabilia were stolen from a West Los Angeles public storage facility.
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that Sampras still has 13 of his 14 grand slam trophies.
But thieves took most of the hardware from his 64 tour title wins, two Davis Cups, an Olympic ring and six trophies for finishing world No. 1 in the year-end rankings from 1993 to 1998.
The theft happened three weeks ago. Sampras says he’s getting the word out in hopes somebody offers a lead.
Sampras retired in 2003 and said the loss is most upsetting because he would have liked to have shown the trophies to his children.
He says the loss “is like having the history of my tennis life taken away.”
Final of the Miami Masters on now. (I’m sure this event used to be known as Key Biscane in the past.) Nadal-Djokovic, and this is shaping up to be the new major rivalry in tennis. Djokovic is unbeaten so far in 2011 and is playing some unbelievable tennis. Early break for Nadal in the first set, this has the potential to be a cracker.
Some match this is. Nadal was cruising it in the first set till Djokovic decided to start playing, but nadal won out 6-4 in the end after leading 4-1 at one stages. Djokovic blew Nadal away in the second set. This third set is a cracker though with both guys knocking lumps out of each other, hard to pick a winner in this one, going to come down to some sort of miracle shot or a dodgy call. Hard to see Federer competing against these two this year. Hope Djokovic wins this as its the clay court season after this and Nadal will clean up there.
King Rafa to kick Chokovic’s hole here as usual
…or not.
Some improvement from the Serb this year espeicially at the business end of matches
Final set there was superb alright. Presumably Djokovic’s run ends now with the clay court season starting, but he’s really reached a new level this year. The challenge will be to sustain it though.
Yeah there has been some change in the serb since the start of the year. Nadal will now win everything on clay but I think Djokovic is in with a chance at Wimbledon.
This is what I was talking about Rocko.
Spotted this very aptly named young lady on Eurosport earlier. Julia Goerges.
