More sleet than snow (from looking out window) in Dublin 8

Hogan, the career civil servant that he is, was doing major ass covering in his interview on the news earlier.

Kept mentioning that they have to follow what the meteorologists tell them.

I’m not doubting the issues on some coastal areas, but most Munster inland & Western Counties are pretty much unscathed so far.

Plenty of snow in Kildare l. Hasn’t stopped all day. If a metre is to fall tonight we could be stuck indoors for another couple of days.

They’re “ice pellets” apparently.

Coming down now and it’s definitely snow.

This is ON.

A light dusting coming down in the North East of West Limerick. Right on schedule.

Whiteout here in last 20 mins

Hey mate,

I have refreshed the Boards.ie thread in their weather forum a few times. I am ashamed to say it but here we are.

In amongst all the moaning about the government and the discussion as to whether it is snow/sleet/rain/“ice pellets”, there is a couple of people there who seem to know what they’re talking about and they are saying Dublin will only get hit at 10ish and that the the big show is still over the mainland.

Looking like I was right so with the big show set to hit Dublin in an hour or so.

I just need enough to justify not going into work tomorrow

What kind a cowboy are you working for,the whole country is off till Monday.

cant speak for the rest of the country only where i am
we have at least a foot of snow on the ground outside, there is a swirling north easterly with squally snow and sleet / hail showers- there are clouds of dust and snow drifting outside, the key thing is visibility is shot to <5m, it is mad out there since 4pm anyhow,we had a huge snowfall here overnight and its at it all day.
look there was a motorway in glasgow last night that was blocked for 12 hours, the n3 and m50/m1N would have been the same right now, do anyof ye drive lads? there would be carnage out there right now
i believe tho this sitaution is only in meath louth and parts of kildare, its brutally bad here at the moment, this is why its a RED… its like orphelia, shur if we left the schools open and people at it there would have been carnage, just get people indoors to fuck and let it go,i guess tho, the thing is , can they localise the RED warning a bit better? i dont know really for forecasting what the weather will be on a rock in the middle of the atlantic they arent doing too bad
