The who is going in to work versus who is (Not)WFH/taking AL tomorrow thread?

3 days in office 2from home seems fairly fair

Depends on the role. No real benefit in having software developers in the office at all apart from planning sessions.

Exactly this. Once a month’ll do.

I was in there on Tuesday. See ye in March!

Everything is tracked from a sprint perspective and managers can get stats from MSTeam etc if they want on ‘visibility’.

That’s said, any developer worth his salt will be over estimating efforts on user stories and getting away with 5 hour days.

I heard stories from the States of developers taking on two wfh jobs at the same time.

It’s mighty the amount of personal admin you can fit into one day of “effort”.

Had a power nap yesterday afternoon. Woke up and saw a meeting notification that I had missed but nothing unusual there. Recieved a message from one of the managers that they had rescheduled the meeting for half four. He’s a spoofer so told him to keep it short as I had a creche pick up to complete. The sound was terrible so we had to call it off after 5 minutes.

On a separate team meeting today he giddily reckoned we were on course for 3 days back in the office. His cough was softened by the group manager who said that the max would be two days a week and she would be fine with 1.

I was on a call with some of my industry peers last week. Back to office came up as a topic. One fella (a Carkie by the way) loudly proclaimed that his company were mandating three days office based working from April. We told him in as polite a way as possible that he was dreaming and best of luck with the attrition.

Most of my place will be going back two days a week but there’s discretion for each department. I wrote up a doc to set ours at one day a week and passed it up the chain thinking it would be shot down. The next lad has amended that to one day per fortnight :ronnyroar:. If we can pull that off it would be fantastic.

Mrs Hunt’s mgr reckons 2 days a month. :thinking::thinking:

I told my department to come in two days a week if they can but we’ll roll with it depending on what is on and time of year but no need to ever be in again for 9am and to wander in whenever they want really.

The feedback has been off the charts positive.

I’m like peak Mourinho - I know when to give a kick in the arse and when to put the arm round the shoulder.

It’s arm round the shoulder time. For now.

Nuala is itching to come back full time, she can’t be dragging multiple folders around for many reasons (bad back, gdpr etc) and there is fuck all room left in the boot of the car for a few bags of shopping.

22 years started June 1998 last 2 years grand but stuck at home all the time you’d get sick of it

We’re social animals , they’ll always want a few days in office …especially people new to a role …
