In early 1984, Tom Petty’s guitarist Mike Campbell offered Petty a tune he had composed. Petty didn’t think it was the right fit for the album The Heartbreakers & him were working on.

So Campbell then offered it to Don Henley, who put his own lyrics to it and changed the key…the rest is history.

GMT ( Greenwich Mean Time) doesn’t change as such. It’s BST (British Standard Time) that changes for daylight saving.

Particularly relevant in this day and age with Zoom meetings and the like. Some smart bollix will quote you GMT.

I would always tend to quote GMT. National pride won’t allow me to reference BST, and IST is a tad niche for international bidness meetings.
