Things That Are Wrong

Paxman pronouncing cuchulainn as … Koo-shell-ayne … Last night on university challenge.

I can’t believe that this has not been picked up here already.

Fact. +1

Sent from my GT-I9100 using TFK App

Recently, I’ve started to wake up in the middle of the night to go for a piss. It’s been happening for about a month and I usually wake up at around 5am. Is this anything to be concerned about?

Ya I would think it is.

Have you entered your thirties? This is only the start of your body deteriorating, pal. Lay off the drinks within an hour if bed, particularly tea as the caffeine can affect the kidney. I’d also piss maybe a half hour before bed and squeeze out what you can again immediately before getting into bed and you should be fine.

Are you under any stress, mate?

it sounds like the oul prostate, choco has the same problem and it’s becoming quite common in Ireland. Get it checked out ASAP.

It’s when you don’t wake up and you still go for a piss that you should be concerned.

I’m thirty-one and one third, pal. I drink a fair bit of water throughout the day and into the evening and would have a couple of cups of tea as the evening progresses too. I would piss regularly enough and generally enjoy a good leak before bed. When I piss before bed, I follow up with a brushing of the teeth and often find I need to piss again after that - yet I still wake up in the wee hours. That said, I’m not particularly stressed - I moved into a new role in work before Christmas but I’ve (typically) hit the ground running and am adding serious value already.

Wahey!!

I appreciate your input pal but I’d prefer for TFK to diagnose the problem rather than some unreliable medical professional.

The problem with that avenue is that we on TFK are too emotionally involved to be objective about the diagnosis.

These things are habitual Bandage but you won’t break the pattern if you give in to it every time by getting up and walking to the bathroom. For the next few nights just piss as you’re lying in bed and within a few months your body will give up trying to wake you and you can return to an uninterrupted sleep.

Definitely something up there buddy-probably a harmless enough kidney or prostate problem or possibly cancer but best to get it checked out with a medical professional. It would be a quick and straightforward exam and, while it will be slighly awkward when your GP is fingering your bum, it would put your mind at ease which would be worth it.

What are the symptoms of diabetes?

Symptoms vary from person to person, but common symptoms include:
Increased urination - YES.
Increased appetite or loss of appetite - INCONCLUSIVE. Have changed my eating habits with the guidance and support of ChocolateMice but no particular increase or loss of appetite - just different.
Excessive thirst - NO.
Visible weight loss - YES. Down from a 50 inch waist to a 35 inch waist.
Blurred vision - NO.
Recurrent skin infections - NO. Nothing of HBV proportions but did have an annoying and recurring spot on my chin - this was initially caused by a shaving nick rather than any underlying medical issue, however.
Fatigue - YES. I’m always tired.
Vaginal infections or infections of the foreskin in uncircumcised men - NO. None of either in the last few years.
Slowly healing sores - NO. Other than the chin issue which has now cleared up thanks to my chemist supplying me with excellent acne cream. PM me for details.

Thanks Fran. It was a decent shout but, overall, I don’t think I have diabetes.

Bandage, It’s clear you are still drinking to cater for a body with a 50 inch waist, rather than a 35 inch one. You may have made the physical leap, but mentally you are still carrying this excess weight. Please reduce your intake of liquid accordingly. You can start by looking in the mirror each morning in your jocks and admiring the well sculpted athlete you have become.
