Those who have poor eyesight

Thatā€™s spooky.

Iā€™ve had laser surgery four (4) times now on my dodgy eye, though nothing to do with Astigmatism or ailments such as that. It was fucking very painful each time and I actually had a needle stuck into my eye once by a specialist I swore I would hunt down and kill like the dog he is. That was fun.

Game changer for any lads struggling to read a menu in a dimly light restaurant or a programme on an open stand

Sophisticated or SS Officer. Maybe both?

Got 2 (two) pairs of glasses online a while back. A big saving compared to Specsavers. My eyes havenā€™t fallen out of my head yet anyway.

Do the eye test in Specsavers. (Use a voucher for a cheaper eye test)
Ask for the prescription afterwards. They are obliged to give it to you.
Order online then

Only dawned on me there recently Iā€™ve had the same specs on for about 6 years. No wonder I can see fuck all.

@Bawny has gone to two games with me now and forgotten his glasses, we had to explain to him what was going on in kilkenny couldnā€™t see past his nose.

Went for an eyetest yesterday after breaking my glasses last week :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Its usually 30 euro in Specsavers but ā€œdue to all the COVID measuresā€ (their words not mine) there is an additional surcharge of 25 euro in place. No mention of this on the website btw.

Got my test done anyway. Let on I was interested in buying glasses. Had a quick look around to seem somewhat interested. Said Iā€™d call in again during the week but id take a copy of the prescription for my own records

Just placed an order online there for 3 pairs of glasses with the fancy coatings (1 is a pair sunglasses) and a month supply of contact lenses for less than what iā€™d have paid for 2 pairs of glasses in Specsavers without the coatings.

TL ; DR

As per my above post from last year, get the test done and request a copy of the prescription. Youā€™ll save yourself a decent amount of money.

Where are you buying online?

I didnā€™t think people still wore glasses.

You must be blind then if you canā€™t see the amount of people going around in specs

Firmoo

I intend in getting the laser eye in the next 2 years.

My better half got her eyes lasered a few years back, game changer.

Best thing I ever did.

I went with Optilase, found them good to deal with. Wasnā€™t that expensive either when you get money back off Revenue for it too.

What did it come in at? Was looking in at this myself. A few people here had recommended I go up to Newry (20 mins away approx) as it would be much cheaper

& she stuck with you?

Had it done in 2007, the week of the third Limerick v Tipp match.

From memory it came to about ā‚¬3k, ā‚¬3,500 max. Got 40% of it (or maybe 20%) back in medical expenses. Was with Aviva Health at the time and got a few hundred quid back from them too.

The only advice Iā€™d give is that itā€™s your eyesight - donā€™t be tight. Go with the reputable company either down here or up North.

You can probably get it done for half that in places like Budapest but if anything goes wrong Iā€™d imagine itā€™s far more hassle.

I priced it in Prague last year and it worked out at approx 1700 all in. Accommodation and Procedure. They say it costs more here due to the high insurance costs

I got the Lasek (no flap cut) done day of the Henry handball. Apparently itā€™s less risky than LASIK where they cut a flap but itā€™s a lot more painful. Two or three days of a lot pain.
