Tipperary GAA 2021

I was talking to a CR man recently and it came up whilst discussing the KK, cashel situation. He said thereā€™s still a lot of division and bad blood within the club over the Kennedys leaving.

I also heard something about pissing in the hand sanitiser of the pub. These stories always grow legs though.

Cant believe Cashel would drop 4 of their own born and bred players for these lads

Parents of each side of 2 groups are Cashel born & bred.

Thatā€™s neither here nor there.

Good appointment. Best footballer I ever marked. I thought I was doing well shepherding him to sideline only for him to dissect the posts from outrageous angles. My claim to fame is the 3rd and final time I marked him that I kept him scoreless.

Were you corner or full forward that day ???

He was some man to kick a score over his shoulder, spent most of his club career double marked. Moyle Rovers and Fethard had some battles when he was in his pomp.

Thatā€™s the thing. Heā€™d kick it over his shoulder left or right. Heā€™d barely look at the posts. He was in no way quick but his movement to lose his markers in a tight area and then run out to where he wanted the ball. Derry Foley was brilliant at hitting him with perfect ball. Heā€™d hardly solo or bounce at all. He had very quick hands for offloading also. Met him a few times outside of matches and he is an utter gent.

Won a minor hurling with Tipp in '96, did he win an Intermediate title too?

I think he did. He put up an outrageous score vs Waterford one day in intermediate. Something like 4.12

I was there that day. He gave an absolute Tour de France

Was he actually good enough to make it as a starting 15 player on the hurling team?

Yes
He hurled Minor, U21 & Intermediate

He did a great interview with Parkinson during the first lockdown. He probably was good enough to make the hurlers around 2000 but wasnā€™t going to give up the football to do so. He won a few Fitzs with WIT around that time which made him really sharp. The hurling he wouldā€™ve been at with Moyle Rovers wouldā€™ve been fairly poor standard at that time. A poor to middling junior A team. Once he left WIT all hope of making the hurling vanished.

Stop talking about my family.

He must have done wreck for Moyle Rovers in junior in the early 2000s

Youā€™d have to imagine so, but south junior A is full of first teams. They got to the all ireland junior club final vs Conahy around 08. By that stage Acheson, Carey and Lorrigan were on the scene.

They got to a few inter semis in the early part of the last decade. Fanning was in charge IIRC.

We used to have some battles with them when they had those teams with Carey, Lorigan and Acheson underage. Beat them in 3 minor south finals in a row Iā€™d say, all either after extra time or by a point or two
