Be careful what ye wish for.
Tipp were very very poor this year, and Bonnar probably wasnât up to the job. But itâs still harsh, because he should never have been given the job in the first place in those circumstances and certainly not given a three-year term. Now theyâre kinda making a show of a decent enough fella.
Probably didnât have any choice but they still made a balls of the whole situation.
The dreaded brains trust
Once the players didnât want him, the county board had no other choice.
He was always a stop gap and probably never should have gotten it in the first place. Tipp are 100% right to pull the plug, he got his chance and was simply not up to scratch, regardless of whether he is a nice man or not, keeping him in place would only add additional years to the rebuilding process and from a culture perspective that mediocrity was/is acceptable.
Surely that would give him credibility with many of the players in the squad?
Itâs a completely lost year though. Whoever comes in now will have to start from scratch again.
I agree that he should probably never have been appointed but itâs appalling treatment of a man who has given his all and stood up when others were arguing over terms and conditions.
It seemed like Colm Bonnar was the last man standing in the selection process last winter and the only candidate they could find from within the county. 8 or 9 months on, theyâll probably have to go down the outside manager route. Itâs a sad state of affairs when Tipperary canât find one of their own ti manager the county senior hurling team
Come on down Ken Hogan, your time is now
Again
Depends on the severity of Barry Heffernanâs injury the other day Iâd imagine.
Iâve never seen a Tipp team with so few nice hurlers as this yearâs.
Big call for the new man on the likes of Forde and Bubbles, most talented players but probably least suited to the modern game.
A lad in work is listening to Tipp fm. Said every second text is demanding Davy gets the job.
Davy managing Tipp in Ennis next year in the Round Robin. Can you imagine.
Like Figo going back to Camp Nou.
Like Cork and Kilkenny, Tipp will never appoint an outside manager.
Limerick
Why, because they have better players?
Will they go with cap in hand again for Liam Cahill? Wouldnât be a great look after the year heâs had in Waterford and how firmly he rebuffed Tipperary last year.
A few forumites doing a grand job there
The feeling at the time was that Cahill would never get the offer again after the snub. But things have changed on both sides I guess
