Tipperary GAA 2022

In fairness joining his ticket wasn’t the most attractive proposition and he was probably finding it difficult to get a backroom team together.

If that was the case, the Board had little option.

The rumour going round was that he was lining up Conal for a spot on the management ticket :see_no_evil:

There hasn’t been a visionary at County Board level since a young Michael Lowry burst on the scene back in the 1980’s and revolutionised, not just Tipperary GAA, but the GAA as a whole.

Its not too late to get the great man to come back.

There was no name mentioned bar his own brothers. The fact he is not living in the county was a huge hindrance in him trying to recruit.

It makes sense for CB to at least listen to his proposal because he may have got in someone good from the outside. This obviously wasn’t the case. Game over.

They should have listened to what he had to say - then gone away for at least a few days to consider it - then informed Bonnar of their decision.

Ultimately they’ve made the right decision (it was unsalvagable from Bonnar’s perspective) but Its just sloppy stuff the way they dealt with it and is indicative of a completely brainless Board.

Its a pity because the Divisional Boards, especially the West and North are very well run with some top people in charge. Until some of those take over the Co. Board, then its just going to go from crisis to crisis.

Even if they wanted him out they could have given him a chance to resign. ‘Relieved of duties’ is an awful ignorant way of framing it to the wider public. Unnecessary.

Spot on.

I think he was given the opportunity to resign and didn’t take it :man_shrugging:

Look at the wonders Cody is doing with Kilkenny. Jaysus Babs would be box office

In the 80s, Babs was ahead of his time.
In the 2000s, he was behind.
By the 2020s, he might be back in the present.

Not too bad it could have been Cormac.

Tipperary asked Diarmuid Healy to become their manager in the mid 1980s. DH refused the offer.

Agreed. Should never have been given the job

The board don’t like being called out by people involved in the divisions. As a result, those in the divisions don’t get a chance to progress. If they want to. I know a number in the West are happy to develop and look after the West. You have to tow the party line to reach the top table.

As a Tipperary resident, I know for a fact that prospective next Secretary was more concerned with the appointment of the new Senior manager than setting the fixtures for the club championships, which is his current role.

Nothing surprises me. Who’s the next man after Floyd?

Tom Maher

Yes fixtures officially released for the Co. Championship this afternoon 8 days before they take place.

They’ve literally had fuck all to do all year.

For comparison the divisional boards would nearly give you two months notice for a fixture. Proactive people on those boards.

As a sunshine Drom-Inch supporter cc @TreatyStones the notice given for Mid Championship matches was very good

What club is Tom Maher?

Same old crap as Floyd. Whole thing needs a major revamp.
