Tipperary Matters

I heard the name on the news tonight and I thought there’s no way in hell it’s the same lad who would have been at home in the heyday of ‘manly’ hurling and football in the 70s and 80s but apparently it is:rofl::rofl: Poacher and gamekeeper spring to mind!! Refresh my memory, is he anything to David and Andrew?

Done some work down Tipp town a while back, Some bad beagles floating around the place .

He is a brother of Pa who was a smashing player but lacked size.

Def not a brother of Andrew + David. Fairly sure not a 1st cousin either. Maybe related further out.

2004 anyway. Must be a GAA first, former teammates on the opposite side of the courtroom.

Would have the distinction of representing Tipperary at every level in both hurling and football. Would anyone else have done the same? Steven O’Brien?

Think Quirke switched to a Dublin solicitor fairly quickly. That happens a lot, particularly when they don’t get bail and are on remand in Cloverhill or Dublin prison.

John McGrath ever play senior football?

Would the following all have played both at all grades?
Cummins,
Declan Browne,
John Meagher

Kieran Bergin maybe too

Tony Hanahoe surely faced off against a teammate at some stage @ChairmanDan?

Plenty of ex-intercounty men that served as judges too I’d imagine

Hanahoes one of the biggest criminal defence practices in Dublin for generations.

Think they represented plenty of lads from the North over the years

Seamus Kennedy definitely has.

Does John Meagher have a Senior Hurling Championship appearance from 2020? Might have come on a sub against Limerick in a monsoon in Cork.

The same in every courthouse. He’s Tipperary’s answer to the American public defender. He’ll be lumbered with the delinquents until some other recently qualified sets up on his own and the mantle will be passed on. At least they’re earning something and being paid by the state pitiful as the rate is. It’s better than drafting wills for oul’ wans who just enjoy the warmth of the solicitors office for the afternoon.

Meagher came on during the Covid year afair.

Bergin didn’t play underage football for Tipp.

I see George Mordaunt is back dealing cars

Willie Connors would have made a fair fist of it. Seamus Kennedy also
