Tonight's TV - Continuation of earlier drivel

Yeah saw it on TNT a few weeks ago. “Officer G Lucas”. Ford was doing carpentry jobs while trying to make it as an actor. He did an extension for Francis Ford Coppola’s office and he gave him an acting job after.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning

"You’re an errand boy, sent by the grocery clerks to pick up a bill "

Brando looking fairly intimidating

I went to see the extended Redux version in the IFI this time last year. Think this lad in front of me was trying to recreate Brando…

Two smashing shows there over the last hour. That reeling in the years GAA show on TG4 featuring 1987. Then RTE with a best of Gay Byrne Late late show. It showed extended interviews with Geldof and Attenborough. Music from Finbarr Wright and Nick Cave (into my arms).

I didn’t realise Finbarr Wright was a priest. Back in the day Official Ireland liked nothing better than a singing priest. Even better if he wasn’t riding his housekeeper.

Didn’t realise it either. We had a priest at home who had a housekeeper. It was the early 90s and we were innocent as lambs. The poor man passed away suddenly in a Limerick parish in April. The priest that preceded him had just come out of the seminary and was very busy on the social scene in the parish. He lasted about three years and went to Ballymun IIRC. We quickly heard he had left the priesthood soon after.

Ballymun must have been a worse posting than Craggy Island :grinning::grinning::grinning:.

In hindsight riding the housekeeper was harmless enough carry on relatively speaking

Watching RTE+1 here - The Gay Byrne years of The Late Late Show.

Live Aid has just finished and he’s interviewing Bob Geldof. He’s asking Geldof “Will you not take a salary from your charity?” and Geldof is saying “no, all the money should go to Africa. People donate money to charities but then it goes on administration, it can be corrupt, it’s not right.”

How times have changed.
