Whoâs the lad that plays both with slaughtneil, plays with with derry footballers too?
Indeed, there was a row of houses down in âCat Laneâ that provided most of the players for Corks earliest victories, my grandfather and generations before him fished the Lee,
Did you ever hear the John Spillane song âThe ballad of Patrick Murphyâ?
Itâs about a fisherman from Passage but itâs a lovely song
Anyway Brian Murphy might be a nice fella but Ray Cummins is regarded as the greatest dual player by people old enough to know
Brian Corcoran
With the greatest of respect I would have thought it brooked no argument that Jack Lynch was the greatest dual player of all time.
JBM won every single medal possible in hurling and football, club, county and provincial, minor, 21s and senior except an under 21 All Ireland in football. Plus All Stars in both.
If itâs medals nobody comes close.
The real brendan rogers
Correct ref Cat lane, love JS( does a freebie on culture night , county-halls top floor)oozes talent
Handy cork Celtic player aswell, plus Munster schools soccer winner colaiste an spioraid naoimh bishoptown
Both on the hurling team of the millennium, Iâve never heard too much about Lynchâs prowess on the football pitch so I wonât comment,
Are you still sour at Cummins for handpassing the ball over the bar in pity?
Did Man U come knocking for JBM or is that a myth?
Iâve heard it said that JBM was potentially the best football player in the country at one stage but by the time I saw him play he was quite average, footage of the three in a row team doesnât do much to change my opinion,
Yerra we bet Cork so often in the intervening years I got over it.
Alan was a class hurler. Mark was good too but inconsistant.
Hego is the form hurler in the country, and was one of the dominant midfielders in Munster football when he played.
Okay, he didnât single-handedly inspire Limerick to an All-Ireland in football but thatâs why looking at medal hauls is kinda stupid for something like this in general.
The Brick was a very decent footballer too.

Shoe-horning a lad that played maybe one championship football match into a conversation about all-time dual greats makes more sense alright
Typical Limerick lads. It would be like a fella coming on and saying Declan Browne cos he scored 4-12 against Waterford in an intermediate hurling championship.
The brother was better
Lock the fucking fridge would be more appropriate in this case.
