Top Gangland Boss Shot Dead

God be with the days we all wore duffel coats and German Army coats to school.

The lad in question was popular. It was a well planned theft.

Of course he was. He was supplying them all with drugs.

It was hard to look cool in a brown duffel coat.

I looked very cool in a black duffel coat. It’s how you carry yourself off.

You didn’t own a pair of these?

It’s on record that I own(Ed) the same jacket that David Byrne was wearing when he was shot dead in the Regency Hotel.

When I saw that I stopped wearing it north of the Liffey lest I be shot dead in a particular galling case of mistaken identity. I retired it further to GAA training. One morning a sliothar became lodged in a net over a fence. I leapt up like a gazelle to free it and the jacket snagged on the fence and ripped a hole in the front of it.

I must post up my most recent jacket purchase some time to get a few likes.

Black was grand. Brown left a man (me) very little to work with.

Hold off until the Friday fashion thread is bumped!

I have this one already, which I do my dealing in

His parents probably complaining they haven’t gotten a free house yet

Would you get much wear out of it?

Hardly ever cold enough surely…

It’s not a cold weather jacket

Would it be more Spring/Autumn wear, mate?

No, it’s a fine coat for Irish winter, wouldn’t be much good to you by the Baltic

I actually saw a fella wearing one this morning and wondered how they became a thing? In particular the German part?

Army surplus store. German flag was cool.

We used to all use those canvas bags as school bags too. The ones you could write band names on.

I bought an old US army parka once - m51 from Korean War. Hood was big enough to go over a helmet. Also coat was big enough to go over a pack.

The coat was close to unwearable it was so oversized.

They were surplus German army coats that you’d get in an army surplus store of which there were many throughout the country. They were cheap, great in all weathers (they had a lining you could clip in and clip out) and they were cool.
