@Horsebox , Are those big inflatable rugby posts outside Clarkâs a usual feature down there during rugby matches. They look fucking awful.
I hear the venerable Bob Prior has sold The Yacht and the upstairs is being gutted out already. Another piece of local heritage bites the dust :(
They are indeed, pal. I hear that the lads from Body Tonic are taking over The Yacht. Interesting to see what the locals make of that.
The crowd that used to run Craw Daddy which is good but it has the potential to be a hipster bar which is bad. I would say there will be people drinking there wearing glasses with no lens and drinking glasses of Buckfast with a hint of irony. Most likely this will enrage the locals and a few of the hipsters will get smashed by bricks.
twisted pepper on middle abbey st?
they do on occasion get very good trance DJs in tho, i wouldnt give a fuck about the crowd as long as the music is good
@Horsebox et al, did you see that a âChocolate Parkâ is being built in GCD? Work has apparently started on it.
The Bolandâs Mills development will encompass office space, apartments and shops, cafes and restaurants.
My barber was telling me about the Bolandâs Mills development yesterday evening, pal. Being developed by the same developers that did the building the Barbers is in-some American chaps according to my learned friend. Whatâs the Chocolate Park thing? Is that going to be the name of the development or is it some sort of homosexual theme park?
I think itâs a theme park type thing aimed at kids / families with kids. Maybe along the lines of Tayto Park but chocolate based. I donât know exactly what it entails but Iâm expecting amusement rides, slides etc, statues made out of chocolate, little shops selling fancy chocolate designs / products, a museum about the history of chocolate, different chocolate characters. Like Willy Wonkaâs chocolate factory but a park rather than a factory.
Come out of Herb Street and take a left and walk down past Bakerâs, Milano, Spar, the area with the U2 graffiti and head onwards for a bit more and thereâs a bleak enough empty piece of land. Apparently itâs going in there.
Wow - thatâs a revelation. Iâll miss Ely for its handiness more than its quality. I often visited midweek for the mixed seafood dish and a glass of wine.
I was in Herb Street just after 10am and I ordered Eggs Benedict and an americano. I meant to order a sausage with the Eggs Benny but it completely slipped my mind. I was seething with myself when the order came out and I guess I could have asked them to add a sausage to it but it was my mistake and I didnât want to cause any hassle. I really enjoyed the meal but I still couldnât help thinking that a sausage would have complemented it nicely.
