Anyone see that Robbie Fowler’s gone to Blackburn? He’s a genius and untouchable.
Manchester United are said to have bid 20m for Berbatov, with Spurs reported to be lining up Pavlyuchenko for 11m if Berbatov and/or Keane leaves.
Rumours also that Manchester City have made a 22m offer to Barca for Ronaldinho. That’s more than double what Milan have offered but the player has shown no desire to join City and looks like he’s determined to go to Milan.
Fucking shocking state of affairs…
Surprised that Hughes, or anyone, would take a job with a set-up like that…
It’s a regular practice in leagues outside England and it’s gradually seeping in over there too since yer man bought Chelsea. Just look at any of the presidential election campaigns at Barca and Real Madrid for example and Laporta and Calderon promising signings left, right and centre. It’s like a sporting director or technical director buying players in conjunction with the chairman / president, with the manager then being responsible for moulding the squad into a team. Milan have the likes of Galliani doing it and Bayern Munich have Beckenbauer and Rummenigge signing players.
It strikes me as strange though that Hughes, who appeared to have completely authority over signings at Blackburn, would go to a club like that who already appear to be a poisoned chalice…
Wow, this all kicked off over the weekend didnt it, good read. Fowler was a good player, but will never be able to be called great outside the EPL because he enver done it outside the EPL. Such is life. A wasted takent too I guess, but injuries had their effects also to be fair to him.
Anyhoo, its rumoured that Ronnys agent leaked the City offer in an attempt to shake Milan into life. Milan will do nothing until they can sort out Adebayor.
Hughes was going stale at BRFC, and if he had one bad season his reputation would be have been sullied. He had the opportunity to take on a bigger club with more money, and jumped at it. I can see why he done it, but with Mad Thaksin there, it could be a poisoned chalice.
As for the signings, Jo and Ronny are Thanksins signing, he really wants to be a big name. Hughes will indulge him as best he can and hope he can build a team around them.
This close season is shaping up to be a doozie, all we need is one big move to get the money going and all fucking hell will break loose.
tottenham will hardly let both berbatov and keane leave…whats the story with jermaine defoe…was he only loaned by portsmouth or did they buy him…and they are offloading bent also…quiet peculiar…
I don’t know. Always thought he had reasonable technique and grabbed a few goals. Amongst the plethora of absolute shite in the Premiership, he wasn’t the worst…
