An opinion of S04E12, End TImes. Of course it naturally pertains to what happens in E13, but its pure speculation on my part and most likely bollocks. I wouldnt read forward on a show like this, and if I did, I wouldnt post it up here on your CLD, wouldnt do that to you
Is it on over here and if it is on what channel?
Any Dexter watchers here?
Watched the first episode of the new series this evening.
Can’t be a red herring. That would be bizarre writing. Where did the ricin go?
I’d say it is how Walt described it. Tyrus in the lab took the poison and fed it to the kid.
No real explanation as to how Tyrus knew Jesse would be in the hospital.
Am I reading too much into that?
Mike must figure into this somehow. I see him playing a big role in the demise of someone.
Also, tough to know where the story with the DEA and Hank will tie into the finale.
Are the DEA in league with Gus?
Now that Gus feels something is amiss with the car, does he know Walt and Jesse are helping each other?
It’s gonna be fucking deadly!
I think it could turn out to be an unrelated in the kid, but it’s not very likely.
A key moment in the episode is when Walt is spinning the gun by the pool. When it spins the third time and stops, pointing at the plant, well that plant is White Monkshood, and it’s highly poisonous. The fact that they showed a long reaction shot of Walt afterwards is very much a nod in that direction. Of course it could be misdirection as well, like Huell (the big black guy) frisking Jesse and putting something in his pocket afterwards, but Giancarlo Esposito (Gus) said in an interview that Gus didn’t know about the poisoning until Jesse tells him. That would suggest Walt is the prime suspect.
The main reason I think it might be Walt though, is the fact that his character needs to take a step in that direction. At the end of season 2 he lets Jane die, at the end of season 3 he has Gale killed. It would be stranger if he went an entire season without taking a big step in that direction. Vince Gilligan has said this is about the process of absolute moral corruption of an individual, and clearly the end of ‘Crawl Space’ was about the end of Walt and the real beginning of ‘Heisenberg’. In that context some heinous shit is called for.
Should be a brilliant final episode though. I don’t see Gus surviving it. He will be missed.
Just on AMC in the states. You can download the episodes easily enough though. Great show, up there with the best of them.
WTB you’ve really thought about this, how on earth did you figure out the plant?! I did consider the gun spinning thing and the look that came on his face afterwards but I just cant see Walt killing a kid, I know he’s far gone, but that far? Surely not yet.
Mike will be back CLD, he’s too much of a character not. He seems to have grown close to Jesse in recent times, and Jesse did save his life, so if it comes down to it, would he side with Jesse and Walt? I agree he will have a big part to play.
I wonder will we ever see it revealed that Walk killed Jesse’s girlfriend/neighbour way back when. You’d imagine that would be armageddon for Jesse if he ever found out.
Watched the first episode of Romanzo Criminale there. Really enjoyed it.
Freddo is a legend!
WHAT a fucking TV show. That was just fucking amazing!
Incredible stuff alright. A magnificent end to a great season. I don’t know how they’re going to top this.
I’m not too sure where they go from here.
I assume Walt is Gus in the next series and Jeese will find out about everything.
So I assume Saul has his bodyguard fella swap cigarette packs on Jesse.
I was just thinking last night about all the things that Walt has done now.
It’s a pretty good list, aside from all the drug manufacturing.
Series 1: Kills the guy in the basement. Melts the bodies with acid to dispose them.
Series 2: Allows Jane to die, indirectly causes plane crash, misses daughter’s birth to meet drug making deadline.
Series 3: Runs over drug dealers, shoots them with gun, coerces Jesse into killing Gale.
Series 4: Poisons child, attempts to kill Gus and bodyguards with carbomb, convinces invalid Hector to kill himself in order to kill Gus and Tyrus, shoots and kills Jesse’s captor
What the hell will they have him do in the next series?
Pure speculation:
Mike will have to come back and will probably be the one who figures out that Walt was the one who poisoned Brock. Walt will admit this to Jesse and may also admit to allowing Jane to die.
Walt will probably have to kill Hank too. Will they have Jesse kill Walt and have Jesse become the new kingpin. Skyler is getting dragged way into the mess now too. She will descend a bit further into darkness.
Absolutely astonishing ending. Agree with most of that CLD. Presume all you lads know that
There was the possibility of it ending this season, hence why he decided to give it a decent wrap up of sorts if it came to pass. Personally I think it would have been an ideal ending, and fear it may have been a better one that what we end up with
Anyone watch the show Blue Mountain State? Have watched first two and have to say I find it very enjoyable.
Looking forward to getting back to Breaking Bad at some point, might well buy some box sets actually and plough through them. I watched the pilot but straight away discovered Game of Thrones and was consumed by that. Then i started watching Boardwalk Empire and have watched three episodes now. In the meantime i have been steadily going through season 7 of Deadliest Catch so i’m not about to add a third show now to the mix until i’m finished one of the two aforementioned. I’ve been promised the box set of the Wire as well when i want it so i am in a quandry to an extent…
Have you actually watched the entire first season of Game Of Thrones then Dunph?
Yes, i pissed through it in about a week. It’s my favourite show right now…
It is very interesting now alright, and to a certain extent they’ve hit the reset button. But there is huge scope for conflict between Jesse, Gus, and Hank from here on out. Apparently Gilligan is worried about only having one season to do everything else he wants to do which is very promising. When you think about the point Walt’s character has now reached, this has what we’ve been waiting for with the last 4 seasons. He’s clearly the bad guy now, in a very real sense. I think it’s going to be great to be honest and the only shame is we’ll be waiting a year for it.
A pity to say goodbye to Gus I have to say. What a fucking brilliant character. So many highlights to choose from and they gave him a great end as well. They’ll struggle to pick between him and Aaron Paul for the best supporting actor emmy.
I only started watching Mad Men a few months ago. Didn’t know what to expect but it is unbelievably good. Heading up there with my favourite programs of all time. On episode 4 of season 4.
Don Draper
There have been some really good tv series in the last few years, we really have been spoiled. It’s mainly down to the superb HBO.
