Tv Shows & Mini Series (Part 1)

HBO raised the bar thats for sure, but the likes of AMC (Mad Men and Breaking Bad) are also doing great work as are showtime etc Showtime seem to have a decent slow burner on their hands in this new show Homeland. Too early to tell, but the first two episodes seemed very promising.

Nyone watching season 2 of Boardwalk Empire? Great show

Keep meaning to get into it, the first 2 episodes didnt hook me enough to make me go running back. Still downloading it, have it there, might get the mood on me to dive into it at some stage maybe.

McGarrigle.

Finished Season 4 of Breaking Bad last night. Sensational stuff

Considering my next choice now…anything from:

Treme
Broadwalk Empire
Deadwood
Friday Night Lights

Not sure to be honest. Any recommendations?

Would recommend Boardwalk Empire, Phil.

Deadwood all the way. The Wire and Sopranos are “better” but Deadwood is by far my favourite TV show ever. There’s never been, and I doubt there ever will be, a character who can come near Al Swearengen.

Having watched both, I would put Deadwood ahead of Boardwalk Empire. Boardwalk Empire’s first season is very much a mixed bag. First season of Deadwood is class. Game of Thrones is also very good apparently. Must watch an episode of it this week.

I would recommend Game of Thrones, Philip.

Lads i’ve one episode left of season 1 of Breaking Bad, it is an absolutely epic show. I’ve bought season 2 on box set so i can plough straight into that then…

Welcome Dunph

Deadwood, from that list.

Kelly McDonalds attempt at an Irish accent in Boardwalk Empire is really starting to grate on me, it is the worst type of impersonation and is getting in the way of my enjoyment of the programme in truth. Hope it passes…

Pan AM has potential.

First episode last next set the characters out well and was greatly enhanced by the talent on show.

Just on AMC in the states. You can download the episodes easily enough though. Great show, up there with the best of them.[/quote]

I know this has probably been mentioned before but how do you download series like these?

I can’t get into Boardwalk Empire at all, in fact i don’t think it is very good. It’s difficult to have any real gra for any of the characters i find and it’s boring enough. I want to turn it off every time Kelly McDonald opens her mouth. I am half way through season one and regardless will stick it out to the bitter end. Watching an episode has become a chore. It’s in total contrast to the utterly superb Breaking Bad.

Anyone looking for a good comedy should watxh Blue Mountain State.

That is all.

Couldn’t get into boardwalk empire either. Only gave it three episodes though. I might try it again at some stage.

‘Homeland’ is supposed to be excellent for those looking for something new to watch.
