Anyone but Corybn mate. As I’ve been telling you for yonks
That isn’t an answer
On the very small sample of the first 3 results this election is not about Corbyn; it’s about Brexit. English nationalism on the rise.
Yes but Corbyn is really a brexiteer
Corbyn as leader for the Brexit vote was the origin of the problem. Sliding doors
Jess Phillips would be more electable.
It proves Corbyn was probably right in his instincts as regards Labour taking a Leave position, certainly as regards winning Northern constituencies
But then Labour would have lost a lot of Remain votes
So you can see the double bind
That double bind is something that nobody here can square
But instead of posters admitting that double bind, we just get mindless criticism of Corbyn
It might be the answer on the basis of tonight. This is shocking stuff.
Yes I think he is. But he’s been keeping stum about it. He’s been weak since 2016 because his party is for Remain but his voters are Leave
I don’t think so
Remain would have lost whoever the Labour leader was I think
Didn’t he go on hols during the 2016 referendum ?? Or is that any urban myth ?
Time to get Brexit done guys
Sunderland central hold for labour thanks to the Brexit party
My cat is crying furiously on my windowsill here
I think she supported Labour too
Absolute revisionism. A strong Labour voice countering the siren-song from Farage et al was the main chance to defeat it. Corbyn largely sat on his hands.
I personally think that’s revisionism itself
The Brexit party are the only reason the tories are competitive in these northern constituencies. They are Labour votes in the main. Sunderland you mention is probably the exception
Sid, as you tell it, there’s no conceivable way that Corbyn could ever have become PM because England turned Brexit after he got elected and Labour has too many Remainers to be out-and-out brexit. You need to seriously examine this line, even though obviously you’re not going to suddenly just examine it now:-
So ehhh… think about that.
I think realistically Corbyn was the worst possible leader out of every single MP they had, except for possibly Kate Hoey.
Edit: and even if you think Labour would still have lost with another leader (which is completely wrong), do you still think they would have lost as badly? Worst performance since 1935 against the worst Tory leader since 1935?
Every door I knocked on, and my team and I spoke to 11,000 people, mentioned Corbyn. Not Brexit but Corbyn. I’ve been saying this for years. The outcome is that we’ve let the country down and we must change course and fast.
