Why wouldn’t they?

A philosopher too! What’s the story with the Sigerson Cup joke? He played a random game for UCD somewhere along the line did he?

A load of fellas listing their best five players and not one mention of Johan Cruyff. That’s what your up against these days, I suppose.

He was the best midfielder on an international team that had unprecedented success and on a club team that dominated Europe. It’s hardly that outlandish a claim?

Was he any good of a footballer though?

Your man Rai that played for PSG and Brazil in the 90’s is his brother.

Before our time

We’re not all in our 70’s mate.

Yet people are nominating Pele who I suspect they never saw play.:man_shrugging:t5:

Yes he was a beautiful footballer in the first group stages of the 1982 World Cup. He was found wanting when the going got serious though.

Whatever you want to say it’s laughable to suggest that MOST people would have him as a midfield player on an all time team

Would you?

I would but I’m only a chap.

Socrates was great in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure

Buffon
Thuram
Cannavaro
Nesta
Cole
Iniesta
Pirlo
Modric
C. Ronaldo
Messi
Ronaldo

That’s the best 11 I’ve ever seen (off the top of my head)

No Zidane? That dispels the theory of him being better than Maradona so.

He might never have seen him play. :man_shrugging:t5:

I’d toss-up between him and Modric

He’s mid 30’s so he definitely would’ve witnessed Zidane. He’d have grown up watching him. Zidane and Modric are very comparable, except Modric won more at Madrid.

Maldini probably before your time?

I saw Zidane, FYI. An incredible player
